We had the good fortune of connecting with Iryna Krechkovsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iryna, what’s your definition for success?
I think success is when you have the opportunity to do what you love and feel truly passionate about. Being part of something meaningful and having the ability to positively affect or influence others is the best kind of success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a classically training violinist, and I feel very fortunate to do what I love most for a living. Although a career in the arts has its challenges, I can’t think of a more rewarding pursuit. We are currently living in very strange times and I believe today more than ever, art is what can heal us and bring communities together. Growing up in Ukraine, I was surrounded by music for as long as I can remember. My parents, along with my entire extended family, are professional musicians, and my father was my very first teacher! Now that I’m an educator myself, I fully understand and appreciate the dedication and the skill that it takes to do this job well. I am immensely grateful to my family for the education that was afforded to me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for their sacrifices and support. I don’t think the path to success in the arts is ever easy, but it’s also what makes it so rewarding. As a musician, one never stops learning and the obstacles we face in our everyday lives actually challenge us to be more creative with our craft. Through my work with Chamber Music | OC, I have come to realize how important it is to be able to bring a community together, and it’s amazing what can be accomplished when we are empowered to contribute to something meaningful. I am most proud of what we have been able to achieve through our Educational Division which is anchored by the Pre-College Program. Our modern curriculum offers unparalleled opportunities for the young musicians here in Orange County, and we’re so proud to say that 100% of our graduating seniors go on to pursue their college education in some of the top universities and music conservatories around the county. These include The Juilliard School, The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Princeton University, among others. We are also very excited to celebrate the start of a new season by opening the doors to Chamber Music | OC’s brand new, state-of-the-art commercial facility that will house the organization’s administrative, artistic, and educational operations. Boasting a 1,200-square-foot performance space with high definition recording/streaming capabilities, soundproof rehearsal spaces, and an impressive fleet of concert grand pianos, CMOC’s Head Quarters (located in Lake Forest) represents the future of the performing arts and music education in Orange County. This acquisition will kick off a year-long celebration as we head into our 10-year anniversary, culminating in our concert debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall in July 2022.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so fortunate to be able to work with some of the most incredibly inspiring people in my life. The first shoutout has to go to my partner in crime, husband, and pianist – Kevin Kwan Loucks. He is the definition of what it means to be a force of nature, and I’m inspired by him every day. In 2012, we co-founded an arts non-profit called Chamber Music | OC (CMOC) which is an organization dedicated to promoting the art of chamber music through performance, education, and community engagement. Along with incredibly dedicated partners like Ross Gasworth, April Kim, and countless community members who have supported us from the beginning, we strive to provide meaningful artistic opportunities to share with our community.
