We had the good fortune of connecting with Colette Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.  You may already be familiar with her, but even if you haven’t heard her story yet you have surely seen her breathtaking artwork around town. We’re huge fans and so excited to share our conversation with Colette below.

Hi Colette, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity and Kindness. Without integrity you do not have much, no trust, no stability. Without kindness you lose an important part of yourself that is most always a better choice.  I think when I reflect on my life, one thing I  regret is that I could have been kinder in certain times of my life,  even in arguments where I was hurt myself and I acted out from a defensive hurt place. I guess I mean if I could take back a harsh word I would.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I suppose as an artist , I’m mostly known for the Global Angel Wings Project – Angel Wings in the public that you interact with. I started the project in 2012 in the streets of LA. – to remind humanity we are the Angels of this Earth -but I’ve been creative and encouraged to be so, since a small child. I’ve worked in other mediums such as poetry, music and filmmaking. Lately, I’m working on expanding my brand in other ways  such as I’ve  started to put my art on more products, textile and apparel . A segment of my collection I call “humanKind”. I painted Wings in the colors of the skin tones  and shades of humanity , its for global unity I suppose and for the Kind in humanity.  I’ve painted a   series of paintings based on the planets (including the Sun and Moon). Each painting has a statement on it, such as,  Mars-“Love your Neighbor” , Uranus -“Its getting weird out here” or  Saturn -“Welcome to the Darkside”.   My new product site is the ‘Colette Miller Collection’- www.colettemillercollection.com

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is a  beautiful hill called Flat Top behind my house.  It’s a mountain with a dirt road that has a 360 degree view of Downtown LA, Hollywood Sign , Dodger Stadium and Griffith Park. There are hawks ,coyotes, gophers, crows, raccoons, wildflowers. I go there to meditate and exercise. It’s a spot that has been enjoyed for decades by the locals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I traveled to Burkina Faso one year and filmed remote areas that did not have access to clean water.  I edited a short video on it which is one my YouTube channel. it was to raise funds and awareness of the lack of water in that area to build wells. The organizer was Mike Pierce from Atlanta, Georgia.  I believe we raised enough to complete about 20 wells.

My print publisher, Anne Martin from www.sugarpressart.com   She and her husband Greg Clewlow work with many artists in Los Angeles and other cities. She has created a vast library of available prints by current and living artists.
