We had the good fortune of connecting with Conner Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Conner, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I love movies. Ive always been a movie geek. Growing up, my dad would force me to watch all his favorite movies, which eventually became my favorites. I loved getting lost in these worlds that films would create. I was obsessed with certain characters that these actors were bringing to life. It was an escape. It was fun. I think my urge to be creative roots from this love for movies. This eventually lead to me getting into theatre arts and acting when I was young, as well as creating my own content with my friends. When I was in college, I really started to dive into the world of acting and learn as much as I could and that’s when I decided I was going to move to Los Angeles and follow this gut feeling I had to be an artist. I think television and film are such a unique medium for story telling. It’s a special experience when you watch something and it hooks you. Same with acting, when you watch a certain performance and you fall in love with the character. That’s what I want to do, thats what’s I want to be part of, movie magic baby! But this passion, it all started from movie nights with my dad watching the classics.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actor and I act! Today you can watch me on The Young and the Restless where I play Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV. Ive been on the show for 3 years now and it’s been an amazing experience. Before that I was apart of several Lifetime movies and a lot of independent productions. Im a big advocate of creating my own material and have wrote and acted in multiple short films and sketches over the years. Commercials, live performances, you name it, Ive probably done it. I am committed to the acting life. It’s been a wild 9 years here in LA and Im sure it will continue to surprise me but I wouldn’t change anything. When you do commit to this life, you understand it’s going to be a roller coaster but you have to keep on keeping on. I think the best way to do so is to focus on your craft. With acting, you’ll never stop learning, which Im obsessed with. Theres always work to be done, so you develop your routine, stick with it and make adjustments as you go. I want to continue to grow as a person and as an artist through this experience and leave my mark with unforgettable projects and performances.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I actually am very proud of my hosting skills. Im one of the only people who left Texas out of everyone I know, so I go hard when someone comes and visits out west.

I always hit them with the beach first. Will Rogers is my favorite, very quaint, not as packed but I do love taking people to Venice and Malibu as well. Paradise Cove is a go to spot. As well as Manhattan Beach if we got time.

The Sunset Strip is one go my favorite go to spots to eat/drink/hang. Im big on the whole history of Hollywood, so it’s fun showing off all the historic spots along the strip. Chateau Marmont and Sunset Tower are amazing. Love Whiskey a-go-go, The Den and all the comedy spots too. It just feels Hollywood and I love it. You’re bound to end up with a tattoo before you go home..

One of my favorite things about California is being outside so I usually throw a hike in there as well. You can throw a rock out here and hit a good hike so no excuses not to do them. All there ones along the coast are my favorite but its fun to hit the Hollywood Sign and Runyon every now and then.

Restaurant wise, I always hit Craigs. Excellent food and again has that old Hollywood feel to it. Great White is the place for breakfast/brunch. And The Nice Guy is always a good time.

Anytime someone visits we end up at Disneyland, Six Flags or Universal Studios as well. That little kid in me never went away
so those are a must do. They are all mind blowing. It refuels my soul to ride Pirates of the Caribbean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a lot of credit to my family. They have been my biggest cheerleaders along this journey and have supported me 150%. They are my rock. I think being in the entertainment world, you can feel alone at times or like no one is in your corner. I rarely feel that because my family is so invested. My decision to become an actor sort of came out of left field, especially for them after watching me spend almost 18 years of my life playing football. But they were nothing but supportive and even looked at it as an exciting new adventure. We even joke around and call my mom the “Mom-ager” because she’s always trying to come up with some new way to advance my career. They watch it all, they shoot me straight, they try and understand what is happening, they show me so much love and support and I am very thankful to have all of them
