Meet Corinne Sill | Designer/Stylist & CEO of Corinne Kay Collection

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corinne Sill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corinne, how do you think about risk?
I believe you have to take risks and go after what you want in life. We only have one, short life, so we must create the happiness and life we desire. You want to look back and say, “Wow, I did that!” Not, “Wow, I wish I would have done that.” I took a huge risk going after my passion with designing my dresses and going right into production here in LA. Had I adverted this risk, I wouldn’t be where I am today with CKC. Even if failure comes out of the risks you take, you still get to grow and learn from that experience which is a wealth you cannot buy. Ask yourself, what would you do today if you had no fear of failing?

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I absolutely have a passion for what I design. I use my style to communicate how I feel and to build my confidence. I have always said your outfit makes your day, and to dress for your mood. When I see someone wearing a piece from my collection, I feel euphoric and proud. Corinne Kay Collection, was built from the pain of being bullied in junior high and not having an easy path in the fashion industry. As a creative and an entrepreneur, I have had to overcome challenges by evaluating and stragetizing how to come up with solutions for continued success. I overcome obstacles with my daily tasks, with a positive mindset and overall vision of my company. A piece of advice I would love to share with others is to give yourself grace. We all go through hard times and setbacks but use that as motivation to learn and grow. I want to inspire others to pursue their goals and dreams so that it ignites their passion. My vision for people that buy my clothes is to help them feel confident, beautiful from the inside out and to embrace their power, bringing out their inner goddess. Xxo

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I truly love living in LA! I would take my best friend to Runyon Canyon for a hike. We would go to a killer pilates class at Carrie’s pilates. I would take her shopping on Rodeo drive followed by a fun evening at Wallys in Beverly Hills. We would definitely go to all my favorite rooftops at Waldorf Astoria, the Edition Hotel, and Elephante in Santa Monica. I would take her for a hike in Malibu and then lunch at Nobu in Malibu. We would run the Santa Monica stairs and walk the 500 stairs at Murphy Canyon trail but then reward her at Jon and Vinny’s. You could see us at Cecconi’s and Craig’s in West Hollywood, but also the Cara Hotel in Hollywood. I would take her leisurely shopping in Venice, followed by a walk on the beach. The weather in LA is always beautiful and I have so many fun places to go, but these are some of my favorites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel like I could name so many friends that I call when I am feeling down or just want to share exciting news celebrating my wins that day! I definitely have to thank, John Hanna, previous CEO of Thomas Wylde and other big brands, because he was my first mentor when I started it all. He helped me find my first manufacter in LA and was always lending his ear when I had questions. He has continuously supported me and given me his best advice. Another one is my dear friend, and fellow entrepreneur, Tracy Allison. She has had numerous late night phone calls with me, supporting me and guiding me through all the ups and downs of business and life. I am so blessed to have her in my life. She is full of business knowledge and a true angel walking on this earth. I wish I could articulate the realm of her healing gift as well as many other commendable traits. Finally, I have to thank Anthony Pratt, my agent, for guiding me and believing in my brand. Anthony is innovative and thinks outside the box ahead of his competition. He has a powerful yet soft voice and the same values as I do. We believe in always being kind and helping others. In a short time, I feel like he has become a friend and we work well together. I am so excited to share what we have been working on with you all!
