We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Marsell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, why did you pursue a creative career?
For as long as I can remember I have always loved photography, it always interested me. I remember my parents would take pictures on family vacations and then my mom would print them out, years later we would look through them and remember all the memories.

I love the fact that when I take a photograph ,that memory stands still forever and when people look back at the photos, the memories come back.

The creative part came in when I got older, I never knew how to express myself I loved music but I couldn’t play an instrument or sing so I started taking photos of live music and then eventually moved into other types of photography which allowed me to express myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is based around creative theme photography which means I LOVE to create a concept or a theme such as Harley Quinn and The Joker and bring it to live with photos. I also have a love for animals since I never went to college to pursue a career as a vent or in zoology I am able to surround my self with animals by taking photos of them.

I am also open to trying new things with photography. Whats fun of doing the same thing all the time right?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is tough because I am still new to the area I’ve only lived here for a year but I would definitely recommend these few things; First I would take them down to Hollywood BLVD, you know real tourist stuff. Then we would make our way to the beach because they are WAY better than Oregon beaches because they are actually warm. We would probably get hungry so we would find a food truck somewhere and have some tacos. Then we might make a trip to the LA zoo or just hang out somewhere and soak up the sun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well let’s start from the start my parents, they have ALWAYS supported me no matter what I wanted to do and believe me that changed all the time but the one thing that was always there was photography and both my parents encouraged me to always follow my heart and my dreams.

My friends always supported me, I mean I did always have a camera in my hand which I am thankful they didn’t get annoyed with me always taking photos of whatever we were doing.

My boyfriend, he has been such an big part of my photography journey these last few years he has encouraged me to take a leap of faith and strive to be a full time photographer. He, himself has an interest in photography so it is something we love to do together.
