We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Leone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest this was not planned at all. I started designing simple earrings when I was 12 years old and this was just a hobby until I turned 15 and I paid my first trip to Spain with the money I earned from selling to my friends in high school. Was not until I finished university that I was able to study jewellery making for two years in Venezuela (where I am originally from) and then the real dream started. I moved to UK in 2013 without any expectation to re-launch my brand in the UK market but God has a plan for us and I did. I can’t lie, it was challenging at the beginning. I remember being lost and not focused at all; but here I am helping wonderful women feel powerful with her accessories.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have launched my first pre-ordered collection named Selena (all pieces are made-to-order) which helps the environment by reducing unnecessary pollution from production and shipping; and I’m very proud of this little contribution for our planet. Building a successful brand is not an easy path to walk through, you need to be focused in what you want to achieve in the short and in the long term; and try to connect to your audience, that way you will be able to succeed in any business. Believe it or not customers want to know you, they want to be part of your brand and honestly they are the most important bit of your business because without them you have nothing. What I have learned in all these years on the industry is that persistence is the key to overcome all the challenges. My brand is about helping women feel powerful and to love themselves for what they are. I want people to know in Puzzle Designs we just don’t sale accessories, we want to know you and invite you to become part of our huge community!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
London is a magical place, everywhere you see you will find a piece of art in front of your eyes. Green Park is one of the enigmatic places to walk through in this lovely and busy city, in summer it’s just crazy to see all the people suntanning in this wonderful place. London Eye is a must if you come to the city, the best time is when the sun comes down so you can get to see the two faces of this city, at night it is just majestic. To eat my favourite place is Borough Market, it’s the perfect place if you are not sure what you want to eat and of course you can have some drinks there as well. Another of my favourites places is Mercato metropolitano, you can find your favourite type of food in this lovely and fun place.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my jewellery teacher, he was a fundamental piece of who I am now. Also to my mum, which is a jewellery designer as well, my husband who supports me and my business and last but not least my customers because without them Puzzle Designs would not be a success
