We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Morara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristina, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My Italian husband and I had an intimate, romantic wine bar. Women would often ask: “Does your husband have any single friends like him?” Or men would ask me to ‘rate their dates’ with wine! They would call ahead of time and say something like: “Open the Barolo if you think she’s a keeper or give her the Cabernet if she’s a one-off”. How was it possible that these wildly successful men didn’t know how to discern who was right for them or that beautiful women weren’t able to meet quality men? It became clear to me that what they needed most was guidance and access to the right people. My background as a casting director and education in psychology certainly prepared me for starting Stellar Hitch but it was (and still is) the incredible feeling I get when I connect two people– who otherwise would never have met–and they fall in love. What an honor.
What should our readers know about your business?
Stellar Hitch is an exclusive matchmaking service for accomplished men who want to meet a select few one-of-a-kind women for a meaningful relationship. Successful men have no time to waste and discretion is essential so online dating is not an option. Most of my clients have no trouble meeting women, they are just not meeting the right ones. So I comb the globe to find them exactly the kind of woman they would never have been able to meet on their own. I’m typically in pursuit of women with that rare combination of beauty, kindness, intelligence and class. Hearing ”you nailed it, Cristina” is amazing but my job is only halfway done. Knowing both parties well gives me the distinct advantage to help guide them towards their ultimate goal: a lasting relationship.
These days I am incredibly grateful that I can work from anywhere serving my nationwide and international clients. Zoom has preserved the integrity of our business and given me even more time to focus on private searches for my clients.
One of the most important entrepreneurial lessons I’ve learned along the way is to ALWAYS follow my instincts. When people show you who they are, believe them. Also, I’ve learned to be less impressed and more grounded. I’ve worked with many high-profile people and celebrities and I’ve found that sharing honest feedback is exactly what they crave, need and respect. Finally, I’ve learned that in order to have a work-life balance, I must set boundaries. I love what I do and helping people doesn’t feel like work; it’s a privilege. But I learned the hard way that my time is valuable and nobody but me is in charge of protecting that asset.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are SO many amazing places to visit in LA but I’m going to keep it simple, classic and romantic for those who want to experience the beauty and walkability of the Westside, where my heart and home reside.
1. Morning stop at Superba in Venice for a cappuccino and bombolini.
2. Walk to Abbot Kinney for people-watching, cool shopping and appetite-building.
3. Keep walking to The Rose Venice for a relaxing drink / snack outside two blocks from the beach.
4. Drive for a few minutes to Bay Cities in Santa Monica to pick up authentic Italian antipasti for your picnic.
5. Head over to El Matador State Beach in Malibu for a rustically magical and almost-private beach experience.
6. Shower and rest.
7. Walk to the Victorian on Main Street for a casual glass of Prosecco on the twinkly-lit patio outside.
8. Fifteen minute walk to Water Grill Santa Monica for an intimate dinner and excellent service overlooking the ocean.
9. Walk to Third Street Promenade for live entertainment and retail therapy.
10. End the evening at Casa del Mar Hotel for an after-dinner drink on a cozy couch in the corner and the best views of Santa Monica Beach.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Stellar Hitch was born because of something my husband, Andrea said: “It would be so cool to help people see all of the ways they’re not letting love in…” I took that genius thought and ran hard with it. It fulfilled everything that I value in life: helping people, making connections, love, overcoming personal challenges and romance. He not only sparked a beautiful idea but he gave me my purpose in life. Grazie Amore Mio. Also, huge props to my special tribe of matchmaking colleagues with whom I consistently collaborate. You ladies who lead with integrity, compassion and humor are my sisters! Thank you all.
