We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Salto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristina, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There is absolutely nothing wrong in playing it safe, but this is definitely not my story. Since I was a kid I knew that venturing into the unknown is terrifying, but is the only way to get properly rewarded. I had to overcome my fears and take some major decisions in life and to be more explicit, I had to move across the world, all alone, to pursue my dreams without having any connections or some basic knowledge of the language. One thing I was quite certain about was that no one is coming to help me, so taking risks was my only option.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’ve always been a creative person with an infinite passion for art, fashion and writing. Nowadays I find myself mostly focused on my modelling career, working with numerous fashion and lifestyle brands such as: Anine Bing, Wonderwest by Boot Barn, Lounge Underwear and so many more. It’s been a marvelous journey so far, although I see myself being more in control of the creative process behind the scenes in the future. My career is slowly shifting towards writing, directing/producing. This is where I feel the most heard and this is where I can reach my full creative potential without any limitations.

There are a lot of exciting projects in the works. There is so much more to tell.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can not come to NYC and not try one of the famous bagels for breakfast, so that will definitely be on our To Do list. For lunch we’ll visit one of my favorite places- Laduree in Soho. I usually try to avoid the touristic places, but some of them just can’t be left without being noticed. We’ll definitely visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (one of my favorite museums in NYC, I can literally spend hours in there and never get tired). We’ll grab a coffee and have a walk in Central Park which is equally beautiful all year around, and have a walk in Soho (my favorite neighbourhood). For dinner I have so many restaurants I’d want my friend to try, I’m afraid 7 days might not be enough. Some of them are: Blue Ribbon, Lure FishBar, Catch, Le Bernardin and so many more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a huge Shout Out to ,,The power of Now” book by Eckhart Tolle. Living in a fast paced and continuously changing world, we frequently find ourselves somehow lost in the process and not fully centered. I often used to be chased by the thoughts that I’m not doing enough, I’m not enough and this used to consume me from inside, I became a stranger to my own inner self. Then this book came along and completely changed the way I started seeing things. Suddenly I became conscious again, I started appreciating the little moments and being more aware of the present moment. I started building the path to becoming my best friend.
