We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Mucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I’ve always been a person of two extremes, either all or nothing. I dive deeply into whatever I pursue. For many years, this meant my scales tipped heavily towards work, leaving little room for anything else. I convinced myself that time for family and friends could wait, but “later” often became a fleeting notion. Yet, when I did carve out moments for my loved ones, I was fully present, immersing myself in those experiences wholeheartedly.
As time passed, I’ve calmed and embraced the concept of balance, not as a perfect equilibrium but as a necessary dance between my commitments. The realization that a life skewed entirely towards work is a recipe for burnout hit hard. It lessens the joy that other parts of life bring. With that realization, I’ve learned that balance doesn’t mean splitting hours evenly but acknowledging and addressing the ebb and flow of life’s demands. There are times when work consumes me, deadlines loom, and projects demand most my time. Conversely, there are moments when family or friends need me, their challenges require my full attention and support.
I think the journey towards balance is ongoing, a balancing act that doesn’t always align but aims for harmony over time—may it be a week, a month, or a year. I try to be fully engaged in the present, whether that’s meeting a work deadline or supporting a loved one in need. The goal isn’t to always keep the scales even but to ensure that, over time, every aspect of my life receives the attention and dedication it deserves. This is a major work in progress for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On Cape Cod, where I have the joy of living, summer is an invitation to the simple pleasures that define this place. Of course, we need to head to the beach and spend time outdoors. Biking is another must-do, whether we’re taking in the sea-scented breeze along the Shining Sea Bike Path in Falmouth or exploring nature on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. And possibly a whale watch, it always leaves me in awe of the ocean and the beautiful creatures that live in it. Spending a day in Provincetown or Martha’s Vineyard is like stepping into another world, one filled with eccentric shops and restaurants that each tell a story. There are so many local shops with a cool vibe that need to be checked out. Cape Cod is a place of natural beauty and vibrant communities.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m incredibly fortunate to have a strong support network that deserves a huge shoutout. At the top of that list are my husband, mother, and sister. Their unwavering support provides a foundation of encouragement, understanding, and a healthy dose of reality checks that fuel my drive.
I’m also thankful for the amazing circle of strong, empowering women in my life. These remarkable individuals, with their resilience, wisdom, and kindness, have significantly shaped my perspective, pushed me to grow, and inspired me to stretch beyond what I thought possible. Their collective influence has been nothing short of a guiding light, motivating me to strive for excellence and remain true to my course. And I can’t forget my clients—each one, past and present, deserves a shoutout too. They’ve each taught me valuable lessons and continue to inspire me daily. It’s a privilege to work with them and a reminder of the impact we can have on each other’s lives.
