We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Osborn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business supports the community by helping couples build stronger relationships, improve communication, and foster understanding rather than judgment. This sets a healthy example for their children and others. It also enables individuals to express their feelings openly, reducing negative emotions like anger or guilt, and helps them become more patient, thoughtful members of society.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Mind Body & Soul Therapy, is dedicated to supporting individuals in achieving their goals across all aspects of life. I believe my approach distinguishes me from others, particularly as I am an AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) Certified Sex Therapist and also hold certification as a Sex and Couples Therapist through the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute (ISTI). These credentials have proven valuable given that sexual health and related concerns are prevalent among many clients. Through rigorous training, I am equipped to facilitate conversations around sexuality in a safe, sex-positive, and nonjudgmental environment, meeting clients where they are in their journey. My commitment to continued learning extends beyond licensure; I recognize that evolving societal dynamics require ongoing professional development to address the diverse challenges faced by clients today.
The process has presented significant personal and professional challenges, including pursuing higher education while raising five children and overcoming cultural expectations. The support and encouragement I received from my sister were instrumental in persevering through these difficulties, reinforcing the importance of having a strong support system.
I have come to appreciate that every individual has a unique story and that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Therapists vary in personality and approach, so it is essential for clients to seek consultations to determine compatibility. Open communication is a cornerstone of my practice, and I encourage clients to share any concerns or reservations regarding fit. Progress in therapy depends on a constructive client-therapist relationship; if alignment is lacking, improvement may be hindered. Ultimately, therapy is centered on the needs and growth of the client, and this philosophy defines my brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were visiting the area, I would begin by reconnecting during a walk through Victoria Gardens, appreciating the outdoor environment and fresh air. For dinner, I would select Sycamore Inn, one of my preferred restaurants. The following day would be dedicated to San Diego, with a tour of Old Town, lunch at C Level, and an evening exploring the Gaslamp District before returning home to relax. The next day, a more leisurely activity such as visiting the Getty Museum or attending a concert at the Hollywood Bowl would be planned, followed by an overnight stay in the area to facilitate a visit to Universal Studios the subsequent day. After returning home from Universal Studios, a local excursion like hiking at the Etiwanda Preserve would provide an opportunity to enjoy nature and unwind with refreshments at the summit. That evening, dinner at Spaggi’s in Upland would offer quality cuisine and atmosphere.
On the sixth day, the itinerary would remain local, possibly including a baseball game or a movie, and later, an evening at Misty’s Dance Lounge located within the DoubleTree Hotel in Ontario. After an enjoyable night, time would be set aside for rest before the final day, which would focus on relaxation, perhaps a sound bath or massage—concluding with a picnic at Red Hill Park. This would provide an opportunity to reflect on the week, and the meaningful experiences shared.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a Shoutout to my sister, April Payne, as she has supported me through it all. My good days and my not so good days. She is the only person that believed in me, even when I doubted myself. She continues to motivate me to this day!

I would also like to give a Shoutout to my Clinical Supervisor, Stacey Merrell. She gave me the tools needed to be a good therapist and to run a successful practice! Kutos to her!! Building excellent therapists!

Lastly, I would like to give a Shoutout to my husband, Scott Osborn. He was the one who pushed me to open up my own practice. This was both nerve wrecking and exciting all at the same time! He also believed in me, when I did not know if I would succeed or not. Thank you, Scott! I would not be here today, business wise, had it not been for him and his encouragement!
