Meet Cynthia Cano Ng | Realtor & Alzheimer’s Association Community Support Partner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Cano Ng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynthia, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Finding balance between life and work has been a journey for me, one that has evolved as my personal and professional life changed. When I first started in real estate, our older children were old enough to adapt to my demanding schedule. I could have dinner with them at 8 PM or sit down to help with their homework after finishing showings. My husband, a lender also working in sales, understood the grind of being self-employed and working on full commission. We both embraced the hustle together so the life work balance definitely hit higher on the work side.
In those early days, I never turned anything away. I was willing to go the extra mile—literally. It wasn’t unusual for me to book appointments stretching from San Diego to Hesperia all in one day. That kind of relentless drive helped me grow my business, but it also consumed a lot of my time and energy.
Fast forward to now, and our family dynamics have shifted. We have a six-year-old, and that previous ability to go, go, go needed to change. I realized that to be present for my family and maintain my own well-being, I had to rethink my approach to work. I made a conscious decision to cut back on production while ensuring I could still bring in the income I needed—and just as importantly, feel successful.
To achieve this, I implemented new systems to manage my time more effectively. Time blocking has become a cornerstone of my routine, allowing me to focus on specific tasks without distraction. I also prioritize my to-do list, ensuring I tackle items in order of importance. And one of the most significant changes I made was limiting when I respond to emails, setting boundaries to protect my time and energy.
These adjustments have not only helped me create a better work-life balance but also demonstrated that success doesn’t have to come at the expense of my family. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and staying intentional with how I allocate my time. It also gave me time to focus on my other passion- the Alzheimer’s Association and my work with them as a Community Support Partner.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started my real estate career on a team and transitioning from being part of a team to going solo in my real estate business was a pivotal in my career. It wasn’t a decision I took lightly, as it meant stepping into a realm where I had to rely entirely on my own initiative and judgment. While on a team, I learned a lot about the industry, but I quickly realized that to align my business with my vision and goals, I needed to develop my own systems.
The process of creating those internal systems was a journey of trial and error. It required me to evaluate not only how I wanted to operate but also what kind of experience I wanted to provide for my clients. During this period of growth, I took steps to further my expertise by earning certifications in probate, senior relocation, and military relocation. These certifications not only enhanced my knowledge but also allowed me to offer specialized services that set my business apart.
Building my business was far from easy. It was a process of laying one block on top of another, with each step contributing to the foundation of where I am today. This journey taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of systems in ensuring consistency and efficiency.
Now, I’ve reached a point where I’m able to share what I’ve learned with others. Coaching other Realtors on developing their own systems has been incredibly rewarding. Helping them streamline their processes and build their businesses reminds me of the importance of mentorship and how far I’ve come since those early days of figuring things out on my own.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a California girl through and through, with a love for everything from Disney to the beaches to weekends spent in Palm Springs. If I had to plan a local weekend, I’d always start at the beach. There’s nothing better than throwing on a pair of shorts and a hoodie, sitting by the water, and soaking it all in. I’d probably grab something to eat at Seaside on the Pier, or head over to Newport for nacho fries at Pipeline and some time just relaxing on the sand.
Of course, the weather plays a big part in deciding the plan. If it’s too cold for the beach, Palm Springs is my go-to. I’ll spend the day lounging by the pool, strolling downtown to browse for books and crystals, and treating myself to some amazing food. Whether it’s the coast or the desert, I’m always finding ways to enjoy the best of what California has to offer!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When reflecting on the key factors that have contributed to my success, there are a couple of situations and influences that immediately come to mind. First I believe my husband’s support and understanding of the dynamics of my work made a huge difference. From the very beginning of my real estate career, he recognized that there would be a ramp-up period. I never felt like I wasn’t contributing to the household finances because he always reassured me that everyone in this business needs time to build their foundation. His encouragement helped me push through the uncertainty and focus on growing my career.
With over a decade of experience in sales himself, he brought a valuable perspective. He’d often remind me that sales naturally ebb and flow, and that consistency comes with time and effort. During moments of self-doubt or slow periods, he coached me through, helping me understand the importance of perseverance—whether it meant answering that late-night call or sacrificing personal time to prioritize my clients. He never made me feel guilty for missing dinner or being focused.
Beyond my husband’s support, learning from negative experiences also played a significant role. Early in my career, I encountered interactions with other realtors that highlighted exactly what I didn’t want to do or be. These moments, though challenging, gave me clarity on the kind of professional I wanted to become and how I could better serve my clients with integrity and empathy.
Additionally, the book The Year of Yes became an invaluable resource for me. It opened my eyes to the possibilities within my career and showed me that not only could I succeed, but I could also do it on my own terms and do it well. It provided a ton of inspiration.
