We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Maverick Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef Maverick, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal is to be able to franchise and distribute my brand in at least 6 states in the united states and also over seas. With the way the cannabis industry is growing the potential for growth is exponential as legal states are expanding and we are approaching legalization on a federal level.
What should our readers know about your business?
Mav Sauce / Mav Snacks is a gourmet cannabis-infused sauce and snack company that specializes in vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and GMO-free products. The thing that sets us apart is quality. Everything is guaranteed fresh and handmade in small batches weekly by Los Angeles based Cannabis chef and caterer Chef Maverick. Only using premium non-gmo and organic ingredients. Every cookie is baked fresh for every order and everything is made from scratch. I value every patient especially because most of them are suffering with chronic illnesses like cancer, endometriosis, Parkinson’s disease, pain, anxiety, and various other conditions. For this reason t is important to give people quality products with quality ingredients that assist them in healing and getting through life a little easier. The true difference is I genuinely care about people. I am the most proud of the fact that my patients often tell me that what I do truly matters, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve received many emails saying that my products really ease people’s pain and anxiety which I know The journey thus far has not been easy, especially because I manage most of the work solo however the positive feedback alone has been enough to keep me going. I truly enjoy helping my patients and working in an area I am truly passionate about. Because I love what I do, it has made it easy to overcome obstacles and hurdles that I have encountered so far. In addition to the edibles brand, I am also a private chef and caterer so I also cater private events and dinners as well as hosting pop-up CBD infused dinners and brunches in various cities.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
That is an interesting question to ask especially since we are in the middle of a global pandemic! Haha. However if we can fast forward to 2022 and my friend is coming to town to visit I would have them do the following: 0. WondalandLA Dispensary (DTLA) – Must get the greens first. 1. Free Yoga and a hike at Runyon Canyon 2. The Broad Museum, my absolute favorite museum in LA! 3. Eating almost every meal at my house. 4. If my guest has no dietary restrictions, they must go to Roscoe’s chicken and waffles! As cliche as it sounds, its a classic! (Disclaimer – I no longer can eat at Roscoe’s due to dietary restrictions but I still remember the goodness) 5. Biking from Santa Monica beach to Venice and back. 6. While in Venice stopping by Abbot’s Pizza Co ( Fire! , They also have vegan and GF options) 7. World on Wheels (I love skating and music, what better thing to do) 8. Melrose and Fairfax area to shop. 9. Magic Mountain – (Although not in LA its close enough ) 10. The Parlor – Melrose (If the want to go out)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I have honestly built my business 95% on my own if i’m honest from the recipes, branding, logos, website, production etc. However, if I have to shout out anyone else who has had my back and supported me through the development of everything is my partner Rachelle Burchette. She has been the main person who has encouraged and supported me through everything the past few years and always helps if I need assistance with events and production. As for an organization, I would say that Cannaclusive has been very supportive of my brand as well.
