We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Vivar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Thanks for asking that- I love this question.

My belief is that the purpose of any job or career is to contribute to society. As a REALTOR®, my sole focus is to faciliiate the enhancement of people’s quality of life and helping them achieve their American Dream- whether it is by Selling a home, Buying a home, or Leasing a home. Real Estate is very near and dear to my heart- as Realtors we are facilitators in allowing others to enter a transaction which pertains to the very land and soil that we live in. There is no greater honor and privilege in my eyes. What a gift to be able to do this. My clients are amazing people who come from all walks of life, from all over the country, and even out of the country- and I am so happy to be able to work with such a diverse clientele.

As a School Counselor at one of our local traditional public high schools, I am blessed with the daily interactions of our young adults. My mission is to get them academically and socially prepared for not only college and a post-secondary education, but also life. My daily work is to ensure that my students graduate high school each June, and that they are equipped with the tools and skills necessary for being a successful adult. Our youth is our future- and I take pride in educating our youth to be bright, knowledgeable, and conscientious leaders of tomorrow.

What should our readers know about your business?
“Su Casa Es Mi Casa”. This is my personal customization on the traditional ‘Mi Casa Es Su Casa’- my house is your house. I embody every one of my client’s transactions as if it were my own- and I treat them with the same care, respect, and attention that I would also like to be treated with. The individualized personal attention that I give to my client’s every detail is everything in and of itself to me.

As a Venice native who has worked and lived across Los Angeles, I thrive on empowering my clients to be knowledgeable of the communities they are seeking to buy property in. I educate my clients on all aspects of the Home-Buying and Home-Selling process, and inspire them when they feel like giving up. Many people think that it is virtually impossible to buy a home in Los Angeles, and I teach them otherwise. It is my firm belief that property ownership and home maintenance is one of the best ways to improve our communities. I empower my clients by equipping them with the winning mindset and tools that are necessary to own or sell a home Southern California. Many millennials feel that they have been “priced out” of certain areas of Los Angeles, and being born and raised in Venice, I have experienced and seen this firsthand. However, it IS possible to buy a home in this city full if possibilities. As a School Counselor, I am motivated by fostering the next generation of adults to not only be successful academically and pursue a 4-year college degree, but most importantly to also be respectful and conscientious human beings. I believe in having high expectations for my students and in holding them to a high academic standard. I pride myself on being culturally-competent, and I thrive on the diversity of the students and families that I work with. I am passionate about leveling the playing field in both Education and Real Estate, as well as eliminating the Achievement Gap.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is the place to be!

This city is so amazingly rich and diverse- I encourage everyone to explore each and every corner of it. From brunch in Downtown Los Angeles to dancing in Hollywood to a local Farmer’s Market in Mar Vista, or hiking the Santa Monica Mountains to bathing in Venice Beach, Los Angeles offers diversity, friendliness, experiences, and culinary delicacies that cannot be obtained anywhere else. No wonder so many people want to live here!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was encouraged every step of the way by my School Counselor in high school. She saw my academic potential, and she encouraged me to pursue a 4-year university after high school. I pursued graduate school, and eventually started working at my alma mater thanks to the connection that I maintained with my own high school counselor. She recommended me for the position, and I was lucky enough to replace her when she retired. She continues to mentor me to this day, and continues to volunteer at our school.

When my husband and I decided that it was time to buy a home, our lender referred us to our Real Estate Agent, and we could not have been luckier. She educated us in everything regarding the process of buying a home. She was our mentor, our sage, and our biggest cheerleader when both my husband and I felt like giving up after losing to bidding wars. In our process of finding our home, she was quick to recognize my love of Real Estate, and she encouraged me to obtain my real estate license. She directed me to a school where I could complete the coursework necessary to obtain my state licensing and even connected me with someone at the school. She was the first person I called when I finished my required coursework, and the first person I contacted when I passed my exam. I truly have been guided by shining stars throughout my lifetime, and I seek to encapsulate this Giving energy and transfer it to others. It is all about giving back and seeking to improve life for those who come after us.
