We had the good fortune of connecting with Dakota Bleu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dakota, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
my career and life is all about taking risks! you will never know the outcome of anything if you don’t follow that voice in your head, telling you to do that, make that move, drop that song, etc. I’m a very impulsive guy, and when I want something, I normally do anything in my power to get it. I lived in my project apartment in the bronx NY with my family since I was born, at 22 I realized there was nothing much going for me here. I was working at the same job for four years and one day I made the decision to move to LA and 15 days later, I was living in LA. You gotta take risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
see, I wouldn’t really know how to describe my sound haha I just like what I like and I make music based off what I like, and I can be anywhere from indie rock to bedroom pop to R&B to psychrock to emo to rap and the list goes on and on, so whatever I’m feeling in the moment that’s what I’m gonna do. I feel like my voice is pretty versatile and I can definitely do any genre I tap into. I feel like my journey to where I am now wasn’t so challenging work wise, because I love to make music. I say the challenge came within me and my inner thoughts. I was so scared to drop my music, although I knew it was great. I just didn’t want to be judged or have my music criticized Not that my lyrics are controversial or anything haha It was just very vulnerable stuff, and I wasn’t sure I was ready to let my friends and the world hear. and I just realize that any negative opinions really don’t matter if I like this song.

I’m still learning. I’m still discovering myself and that’s how it’s always going to be. You can’t stay stagnant and that’s my brand. It’s not all bad.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
hmmm i’d probably take them bar beau (bk) for dinner then head to lullaby in the lower for some drinks and than probably back to bk to dance lol and then probably end the night at the jane hotel I feel like the jane is hit or miss though

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
well, first and foremost, I wanna give a shout out to my friends really they’re the ones that encourage me to keep going and really put the battery in my back. I don’t think I would’ve ever dropped a song if it wasn’t for them.
