We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Bresin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana, what matters most to you?
Most important Value – Honesty or more currently referred to as transparency. As part of the DB Creativity team, I am clear in my path and I try to illuminate all the pros and cons with all my clients so that there are no surprises when it comes to our services and costs. Many people feel that a planner is somehow a windfall job but there are so many hours that are clouded for clients. I always bring them to the surface – The DB Team spends so much time brain storming – We are paid to do so that is how we come up with unique ideas. There is no simple template to unique. One of my favorite client quotes to unveil for them is “I want you to do something completely different and unique – so incredible it’s never been done before AND show me a picture”. Well how can I show you a photo of what does not exist? DB Creativity always gives the most to our clients within their budgets and I always want our efforts and hours to be realized so the most crucial explanations must be spoken, reviewed and quantified. We must all be in agreement with time spent is the same as money spent. Once proper expectations are set with clarity, truth and transparency we can create amazing events that all my clients feel a part of and know the amount of work and effort our team puts in to make their special night.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
People often say you have the best job you get to work on beautiful production all day, you work with flowers! Well I would agree I do love my work, but it is like all things in life – anything worth having comes with a trade off. Hours – Many early hours are spent selecting those beautiful stems. 3 -4 am you can find me downtown. Then there is the dirty part of the job – cleaning and separating the qualities and varieties. Lugging buckets of water – Design techniques. Running for deadlines -with knives or scissors in hand. There are so many hours spent starting your day at 3 am and ending some time after 6 pm – I would say that is the largest challenge.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the ocean, so a great day would be walking on the beach with hot chocolate or coffee, A drive along the beach, to Venice or Santa Monica Pier a nice lunch on Ocean Blvd. So many fabulous restaurants Evening walk on Third street promenade – Sounds great to me
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shout out goes to the “A” team an amazing group of professional in my industry who I have the pleasure of working with and sharing ideas, creating memories and making every step in the process a pleasure for our clients. We are only as amazing as the team that supports us!
