Meet Dana Kramer | Creative Director and Wardrobe Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Kramer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing an artistic career has always felt natural; it’s a direct extension of who I am at my core. Guided by passion and good-spirited rebellion, I love nothing more than leading my clients through a process of creative deviation, defying convention, and embracing the unexpected. Never one to follow rules, a creative career has allowed me to dance into the unknown–transporting myself into an undiscovered reality. Creative Direction and Wardrobe Styling have allowed me to redefine artistry through fearless experimentation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My business, Haus of Gravity – an experimental playground for the creatively curious and deliciously strange to turn their wildest ideas into art – keeps me busy professionally.
Both creatively and logistically, I provide support in translating my client’s innermost thoughts, plans, dreams, and visions into a photoshoot that perfectly reflects the wonderfully eclectic inner workings of their mind. Contrary to popular belief, you will not find me behind the camera and I retired from event planning some time ago. Instead of wondering what I am, let’s reframe what I do: I turn your creative concepts into reality and juggle all of the moving parts that go into a seamless photoshoot. As your Creative Director and Wardrobe Stylist, it’s my responsibility to turn an idea into a concept, a thought into a plan, and a dream into a reality.
I am the perfect partner to content creators, creative businesses, entrepreneurs, models, photographers, and anyone who wants a creative photoshoot. When you trust me with your creative vision, you will see it brought to life even better than you ever imagined. This partnership allows you to be fully present for your photoshoot without worrying about any of the details slipping through the cracks. My areas of expertise includes custom concept development, pre-production (permit acquisition, location sourcing, procuring models, prepping for day-of photoshoot execution, and more), outfit and prop sourcing, and vendor communication.
In this Haus, there is no gravity…
…no creative boundaries, and nothing tethering us down. I encourage and expect exploration, play, and an empathetic disregard for societal rules. I don’t believe in rigid standards. I don’t believe in “shoulds.” In this Haus, the only thing standing between you and your wildest dreams is having the courage to make them your reality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Creative Director and Wardrobe Stylist based in New England, one step into my orbit is all it will take for us to have the best time ever.
I’d bring my friend for a day of thrifting and sips. Weekend Vintage in Portland, Maine is a favorite gem of mine. We’d then hit Savers, Goodwill, and other local finds that Portland has to offer. We would stop at Bard Coffee for a caffeine boost and spend the rest of the day sifting through vintage wares.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the talented artists I work alongside, I would not have a portfolio representative of my artistry. The photographers, hair and makeup artists, and models I regularly collaborate with deserve special recognition. They allow me to trust the process, be vulnerable, and let intuition be my guide. We weave a fearless dance of inspiration and innovation, together.
