Hi Dania, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Over time, my approach to work-life balance has become more structured and intentional. As a senior in college juggling academic responsibilities with managing a photography business, effective time management has been essential. Being an avid procrastinator sometimes, I’ve come to rely heavily on tools like to-do lists (which are my absolute favorite) and Google Calendar to stay organized and on track. I’ve come to understand how crucial organization is for maintaining a balanced life. Establishing clear priorities, setting realistic goals, and using effective time management techniques have been key in managing my commitments more efficiently. These tools not only help me prioritize tasks but also ensure I allocate sufficient time for all my commitments. By planning ahead and breaking down tasks into manageable steps, I’ve been able to create a healthier balance between work, school, and my personal life, allowing me to pursue my passions while succeeding academically.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a photography company specializing in event, branding, and lifestyle photography, my passion lies in capturing the essence of moments that matter most to my clients. Each photograph not only documents an event but also preserves the emotions and relationships behind it. From intimate family gatherings to high-profile corporate events, I strive to enhance brand identities and preserve cherished memories through my lens. My journey to where I am today has been marked by dedication, perseverance, and a deepening understanding of the impact of visuals. It hasn’t always been easy navigating the world of photography requires constant adaptation and learning. What works for you in one season might not work in the next season.
The most rewarding aspect of being a photographer is witnessing the growth of my client’s families over the years. Whether it’s capturing the joy of a baby shower or documenting milestone birthdays and graduations. Being recommended by clients is a testament to the trust and satisfaction they have in my work, and it reinforces my commitment to delivering exceptional visual experiences.

As an entrepreneur, I’ve come to appreciate several critical lessons that have shaped my journey. One of the most significant realizations is that not everyone you expect to support you will, and sometimes, strangers can surprise you by becoming your most vocal advocates. I’ve learned to keep an open mind and welcome support from unexpected places.
I’ve also learned that adaptability is key in the fast-paced world. Things change quickly, so being ready to adjust strategies and embrace new ideas is crucial to staying ahead and finding new chances to succeed. 
Additionally, I’ve learned the profound importance of networking. Building strong relationships with clients, collaborators, mentors, and other industry professionals not only expands business opportunities but also provides invaluable support and guidance. Networking has enabled me to gain insights, establish partnerships, and access resources that have been instrumental in overcoming challenges and achieving growth.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came visited for a week, despite being a homebody who prefers staying indoors, I’d still want to show them a good time. I would start by searching on TikTok for those popular restaurants that everyone is raving about and then to balance out the dining experience, we might venture to an interactive museum. While other days would be spent cozying up at home with takeout from another TikTok find or catching a movie marathon. It’s all about ensuring a week filled with good food and relaxed vibes despite my usual preference for staying indoors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shout out to my incredible business mentors, Jaya and Jaylin Bolden, and the amazing Crowning Queens Mentoring. They have been absolute game-changers for me. Jaya and Jaylin have not only shared their deep business expertise but have also been there as mentors, guiding me through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship with their wisdom and support. Their belief in my potential has been truly uplifting. Furthermore, Crowning Queens Mentoring is an excellent program. Through their programs and support network, I’ve gained insights, skills, and connections that have empowered me to grow personally and professionally. The organization’s commitment to creating a supportive and empowering community of committed entrepreneurs has been inspirational and impactful. I am truly grateful to Jaya, Jaylin, and Crowning Queens Mentoring for their dedication, mentorship, and encouragement.
