We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Lawrence Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve chosen an artistic/creative career because I love being creative. I didn’t realize it until recent years, but I’ve always been a creative type. I never really stopped to think about it, but ever since a kid, I’ve always enjoyed writing, drawing, and creating and listening to music. They say in life you need 3 hobbies: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to keep you creative. Having these hobbies can help you have a better chance at a happier, more fulfilled life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
House music has become extremely popular, and I’ve watched it happen over the years ever since my first electronic music events in 2008. But what sets me apart is my sound. I enjoy playing the deeper sounds of house. Deep, funky, sweet, sexy, and soulful blends of house music that leave you craving for
more. I’m very proud of my branding, and I think with years of continued effort, I will be able to make my visions a reality. I’m still only a year into this journey, and sometimes I have to remember that. I’m learning there are a lot of politics in this industry that I really don’t care for, but that’s just the name of the game.
This profession is one that serves the ego, and I recognize that. I’m not in this for the ego. I’m in this for the love. I don’t want the politics of it all to ruin that, so as long as I’m having fun, I think that is all that matters. One day I will get the recognition I’ve always dreamed of, and the people will be enjoying the
good music that I’ve been trying to share all along.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Going into nature for a while to unplug from everything is always a good time. Boomtown Brewery and The Arts District area in Los Angeles is always a great time for dinner and drinks. Exchange LA is definitely my favorite nightclub in LA, so that would be a must to visit. I also really love The Grove shopping center in LA, so that is also another must. Lastly, any hole-in-the-wall Mexican food joint is a must-try in Los Angeles. There is so much delicious food out there to try.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out my parents for always being supportive of me. Growing up I’ve never had much, and have grown up extremely poor. But although we were poor, I always had their support. I’d like to shout out my friends Novacane and Impulse for supporting me and getting me bookings when I was first starting out. Will and Elation Moment were also great support. Most importantly, I’d like to shout out the book “The Alchemist” and “The Secret” as these books played a profound impact on my mindset and my belief in myself through life’s challenges and obstacles.
