Meet DANIEL RIVAS | Professional Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with DANIEL RIVAS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DANIEL, how do you think about risk?
I believe that taking risks are a part of life and risks should be taken with a lot of thought though.
I have taken many risks in my life and career, where to live, what to do as a career and how to get there are just a couple.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have always thought that if I was going to build a business it would be to help people. There are three studios that I have worked for in the past that have always shown me this. It is what makes my business successful.
Thankfully I have learned many things about building a business while being an employee, then grown with that information to create my business. It wasn’t easy, some trial and error in marketing at first, but when we found what worked for us we ran with it and got the studio business to being successful for us.
Business was great when people had money to spend, but when the recession hit in 2008 and the Covid Pandemic in 2020, those were some hard times. My business had to take a shift during those periods. I had to adjust rates to help clients get what they deserved, even in hard times. My clients have appreciated this, therefore I have kept the change in my business. I have always believed that if you keep your clients happy with great service and awesome rates they will continue to return for more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well of course Disneyland! The beaches in Southern California are beautiful and I love the camping in California.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I can’t bring it down to just one person and honestly these people deserve a lot of credit for my success in life and my career.
First, Maria, my wife whom I have been with most of my life. We met in high school and she has always supported me in whatever I did and do. She actually bought me my first professional grade camera when I was 20 years old.
Second, Ray Belis, a professional photographer that thought me a lot about running a photography studio and creating a style for my photography and service. He is a great man.
Third, Jan Gerstel, a businessman and photographer that gave me the biggest break in my career as a photographer and studio owner. He let me use my experience in running a studio, marketing and photography to run his business. He trusted me to make his new photography business successful. Gladly, I did just that for many years. We are still good friends and I will never forget what he has done for me.
