We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had an affinity for story telling and project based work all the way back in preschool.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a toddler I would play with my action figures alone for hours on in creating stories with them. I often had a difficult time including other kids my age because they seem to just want to arbitrarily move their action around. This attention to creative decision making became more apparent when I starting making music at 9 years old which then went on to me becoming a songwriter, music producer, and audio engineer professionally. I worked out of a local professional recording studio in Olathe,ks and it was there that I learned the hard truth of what I call the “Coaster Phenomenon”. This title came about when I realized how big of a miss it was successfully in how the music artist would spend good money for creating their music with me but we lacked any real understanding of the importance of branding and promoting. So I would burn their music on to a CD and that CD would then become a coaster for a drink because the CD would go no where. That is where my passion for helping businesses create and tell the story of their brand was born.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my family or friends come to town the first thing I like to do is show them my “hole in the wall” restaurant finds. First stop would be my favorite place for street tacos which is at a place named Bonita Michoacan. Second stop would be Tea Garden which is Chinese Cuisine. Third would be Q39 the home of the Brisket Burger. Following that perhaps we would go on my tour of music gear and antique stores.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many shout outs but I’ll try to limit them for the sake of bandwidth. I’d like to shoutout the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. My wife Elisha and our 3 daughters Elissa, Danyelle, and Eliyah. My Momma Dora and my Pops Danny as well as my brothers Mike, Roy, and Rick. My Uncles and Aunties, my cousins, and all my friends. I see everyone I know in some capacity as a part of helping me get to where I’ve gotten. I’m grateful.
