We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle R. Baines, M.S. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before starting DB2 Consulting, LLC. I realized that many people never took a leadership class before leading people. Through my personal and professional experiences, I found a need to assist many who struggle with showing up as their authentic selves in many different spaces. I also realized that comes from a place of not being equipped with the tools and resources needed to grow in this area. In turn, poor leadership impacts the ability to bring out the best in people, and parallel to that, it affects a team’s performance, retention, and development. I saw a better way to bring the best out in people that would have them do amazing things in life. I had a vision; I believed in that vision, and believing is an essential part of the action. The action was my creation of DB2 Consulting. Author John Le Carre said it best….” A desk is a dangerous place from which to watch the world.” I don’t watch; I plan, prepare, and challenge the status quo.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DB2 Consulting provides consultative services and training and development courses to empower individuals. Our strategy is to form long-term relationships with motivated entrepreneurs, leaders, and organizations to align business objectives with leadership development. Our creative learning solutions are tailored to our client’s needs to support them on their journey of having a high personal degree of credibility, having high-performing teams, and increasing personal motivation and confidence. What sets us apart from other consulting firms is our passion for helping others. Our boutique experience and unwavering commitment to helping others succeed is what you won’t find with other consulting companies. DB2 is about the people; we take an active interest in our client-to-consultant relationship approach, digging in deep with them and helping them identify how to inspire, motivate, and create change in their spaces without deviating from their authentic selves.

I am proud of the clients I have assisted thus far and I am most excited about where DB2 will go and how I can create opportunities for others who look like me.

I want the world to know that you don’t have to conform to typical corporate standards, your voice is powerful. Use it to create great things!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Long Beach, so I would share my experiences with my out-of-town friend by beginning our day by scooting down to have brunch at the Breakfast Bar in Long Beach (their breakfast burritos are massive and so delicious); followed by a stroll on Alamitos Beach, which is a fav of mine. If there is a random street fair, I love shopping and supporting local vendors. Once we are done shopping, we can continue our scooter ride down to Plunge Restaurant to enjoy lunch with ocean views. If you notice, most of my recos will be by the water because that is my happy place! Later that night, if we are up to it, a little bar hopping in downtown to end the night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I like to recognize the love, support, and constant motivation from my Aunt/Godmother, Boyfriend, Skittle, and BFF. They all deposit to my success in life, and I couldn’t have a more powerful support system!
