Meet Danielle Reid | Actress, Writer and Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Loving the process, following your bliss and receptive to the surprises life brings along the way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always loved making movies whether that be in acting, directing, writing, producing – often all of the above. I started when I was kid, casting my family in talent shows. I studied film both at UCSB and San Francisco State. I made some shorts in the Bay Area and moved to LA in 2011 to pursue acting for film and television.
It has taken over 20 years to learn this industry and I am still learning. Which is great. There’s always more to grow into. Always more to create. It’s a never ending adventure.
I am really excited about a feature film that I wrote last year that I plan to act and direct in. It’s a female driven crime drama that I feel will allow me an opportunity to showcase both my art behind and in front of the camera.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have done trips like this with my best friend and often we pick a place and improvise the whole way. We kind of let the journey take us where it wants to go. One of my favorite locations is Desert Hot Springs. I suppose we would drive to the desert and make a few fun stops to eat along the way. A local cafe. A vegan restaurant. Perhaps some artist/craft shop. We would get a nice room at a place like Two Bunch Palms. Go to the mineral springs, do yoga, tarot cards, etc. Later go to a karaoke bar and sing our hearts out with the locals.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter. Watching her grow is an inspiration and she is always gives unconditional love and support.
