Meet Danny Cortes | Miniature street artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Cortes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danny, what do you attribute your success to?
God ! without him none of this would have been possible he gave me a talent to make a way when the world shut down , also my determination and will to never give up another important factor is my love and passion for the craft. I enjoy what i do i love the joy my art gives people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make miniatures of old nyc bringing nostalgic memories through my art. I focus on the decaying urban environments that i was raised in. “ the ghetto “ mainly 1980s -90s im attracted to rusty mailboxes iceboxes old school store fronts that are no longer in business due to gentrification dumpsters filled with rust and graffiti for me everything is beautiful you just have to stop and really look. What separates me from the others is my quickness, my messages and attention to detail behind every piece. My consistency is what got everyone’s attention. My social media platforms is my stage so i made it my business to perform on the stage everyday i try to connect with my audience in a special way i try to take them to their childhood with my art. Last year I was working maintenance in a homeless shelter in Brooklyn NYC. Today im living my dream and its just the beginning

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im taking them all over Bushwick Brooklyn where i was born and raised and currently have my studio at. Ill take them to the beer garden on wycoff ave then to the sampler a very cool bar where all the artist hangout and network. And definitely taking on tour and show them all the dooe graffiti murals by the bushwick collective

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout OUT to my Girlfriend Neyda Garcia thank you so much for believing in me since day one. Thank you for encouraging me everyday Thank you for being there every step of the way. My bro Nate Thomas Thank you for believing in me Your support has helped me when I thought I couldn’t achieve my goals.
