We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmin Feige & Matias Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmin Feige & Matias Gonzalez, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We were in the middle of the lockdown in 2020 and realised that home had become the “go to” place for everyone as it was not possible to go somewhere else. This made us feel that we needed to create a joyful space inside when everything that was going on outside was everything but joyful.
This is when we started thinking about the idea of being the ones who could bring this “happiness” to every interior possible with some particular pieces with interesting and fun colors and shapes to add to the current long-time going minimalist decoration style without making it too invasive because that would have brought boredom and the aim was and still is to push that “moment” with pieces that stand out among the others.
We both have our projects and during this time, we decided to create a design studio to have fun and to create something different.

What should our readers know about your business?
Bougie Woogie is a design studio founded by us (Jaz & Mati) and run by us as well. We are based in Buenos Aires and Milan.
Each one of us has a strength and we work from there.
Mati has a strong background in technical design and a deep knowledge of materials and development, while Jaz is the creative half of the studio with a background in marketing and product design.
Our work has a techical side that sets us apart.
We send every piece disassembled with an easy step-by-step guide to put them together taking into account that to compress the packages, the CO2 footprint decreases.
We take a lot of time developing the assembly system and, also, developing new colors and lacquer techniques.
To get where we are today was a journey that continues with every new design, every new collaboration and every new idea that comes to us. Is a day-by-day work fueled with passion and dedication.
We are proud of the identity that Bougie Woogie has today.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are forever grateful to the University of Buenos Aires where we both met and did our studies.

The importance that the study of who came before us has is enormous, and every phase of Industrial Design history had an impact on society and translated what was happening at the time.

We see this and we felt this same thing when we decided to create Bougie Woogie.

We also have a special devotion to the disruptive proposals of the Italian anti design studios such as Memphis, Archizoom, Superstudio, etc.

A really special recognition should go to the people that work with us to make our design studio a reality. They are Studio Hanma, Mati’s 1st studio that has the structure that makes Bougie Woogie possible. Katja STÜCKRATH, photographer, and filmmaker who works with us on every shoot. Gabi and Nico, in charge of production, and all of our friends and family that support us and celebrate our achievements.
