We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny VonHorror and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, what principle do you value most?
Never quitting in the face of adversity and keeping a Positive Mental Attitude! PMA will help you weather any storm, as long as you truly believe things are going to be ok. One of the keys to my success is not allowing anyone including faith to dictate what my future will be. I chose what happens today which will impact my tomorrow. Yeah eventually things end but you have to realize that while you are alive you are in the driver seat…..

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others Is my tenacity to give everything inside of me into each piece. I feel that I get artistically stronger with every piece so I don’t feel that I have a complete signature style even though I do lean more into the illustrations and cartooning and that makes me extremely proud. I’m excited about what the next project will be, I have goals I set at the beginning of each year with my art and I really try my hardest to reach them. Last year even with the pandemic I was able to surpass my goals and really just elevate myself to a higher plain. I got to where I am by not allowing any obstacles and short comings the ability to dictate my path in life. I’ve always given 100% to everything I do, but find the balance in your life to be able to do so. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is “My talent is not based on your budget.” Know your worth but always be there for your close ones. Always be as honest as possible with yourself and with your clients, it goes a long way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I follow a keto diet, so if you’re into keto options Starburst Parlor will be opening soon but for now they do pop ups and delivery of some amazing meals and desserts! All sugar free but actually quite delicious. I would also try El Tamalucas he’s a good truck here in Vegas. Only keto tamales in town. His non keto options have elevated the tamale game! Real gourmet. Mezzo bistro and wine is a really delicious place big servings. Friendly staff. John mulls meat & roadkill grill is one of the best bbq spots in town. Definitely have to go there. Those rib tips make your mouth water. For fun the neon museum at night tour to see all the history Las Vegas neon signs that have been retired in their illuminated glory. Cannabition the cannabis museum has lots of amazing art installations from amazing artist. The pinball hall of fame Return to your youth in this retro pinball and arcade museum. Yes you can play! The mob museum while my visitors can get a drink in the hidden speak easy bar A walk through downtown to admire all the murals right down to container park to see the metallic praying mantis shoot fire from its mouth. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. Alexis owner of handsomepantherdesigns and my wife. I owe my entire career to her honestly. I have had debilitating health issues that progressed over the years and she’s been with me every step of the way. She encouraged me to pursue art as an outlet for the frustration I felt because of these issues and now we’ve made something special out of it. I’m blessed to have her.
