Meet Darius Christian | Performing Artist & Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Christian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I find risk-taking to be an integral part of being an artist. My career spawned out of uncertainty mixed with a vision and a dream and taking incremental and intentional steps forward period. without risk, there is no reward but with that being said, there does need to be a balance where it’s not all on the line 100% of the time knowing when to pick your moments to go all in. I find it to be effective and based on tapping into your internal gut feeling so without risk I would not be here today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what potentially sets me apart from other people is my spirit and the amount of energy and enthusiasm I put into my craft. I’ve dedicated an enormous amount of energy to making sure that my artistry and technical abilities align with my love of humanity and desire to connect to other people. I think the fact that my end goal is community. wholeness and unity separate me from musicians that are purely in it for attention or fame. But with that being said, we’re all in this thing together. So it’s just very important that we see how powerful music can be for uniting people across the world, minimizing destruction, and saving lives. I stand here today as a professional because I feel a fire in my gut, to share energy with other people. People whose eyes are closed or people whose hearts need a hug and I’m aware of how magical music is in connecting the dots. The challenges are always there, but it’s just it’s really important to remind ourselves to think of the end goal and keep our eyes on the prize which is doing what we love at the highest possible level and inspiring other people to be the best version of themselves. I’ve learned that I can’t make what I do about myself. I have to reach out to others for help. I need to reach out to artists to collaborate I need to consult and I need to receive guidance from people I trust to move forward and continue this lifestyle which is impossible if you don’t have proper support. I want the world to know that I’m here to share the joy and to share my fire so that we are all better people

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say hands down my favorite place in Kingston, New York is Tubbys. It’s an incredible all-inclusive, bar and live music venue that ranges from goth to punk, to Cumbia, to jazz and experimental electronic music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out a few very important people in my life for most of my family. My partner for all of her guidance throughout my development also would love to shout out the ridiculous mentorship I received during my time at Towson University in New York University
