We had the good fortune of connecting with Dave Panozzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dave, how do you think about risk?
Some people don’t like taking risk. Risk can be looked at as a bad or good thing. Which side do you fall on? I have always looked at risk as an opportunity to advance myself or business. Risk taking is an art form and can become natural once you have gone through it a few times. Understanding yourself and how you think is very important during the process. Risk taking can be associated with different things like driving too fast, drinking too much, or having an unhealthy lifestyle. I have had both personal and business risks taken in past years. i got sober after many years of drinking which resulted in a bad accident. Thank God no one was injured, only myself, which led me to get sober. I also made some risky decisions on business partners which ended in businesses failing and losing money. After each mistake I learned a little more about myself and what my limits were in each scenario. Let’s just say I have paid a lot of dumb dumb tax over the years. Now when looking at taking a risk I out weigh the pros and cons of the risk. Literally i will take a plain piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. One side pros, other side cons then I do a deep dive into what I am contemplating. Once done I will explain to my wife what i am trying to do and have her break it down from another perspective. I feel it is always important to have a 2nd set of eyes examine what you are trying to accomplish. Always and I mean always go to someone that is at a higher level of thinking than your current level. Get advice from people that aren’t at your level……you need that advice from someone who has been there done that. Not always will family give you the proper advice you need. It’s important to share with a successful business owner, leader or someone with a proven track record. Risk is in the eye on the beholder…….it’s only risk if you think it is.
What should our readers know about your business?
Our Team consists of 5 people my wife and I, 2 amazing buyers agents Mari/Alison and our Transaction Mgr Kayla. If it wasn’t for the Team we could not do what we do. Our culture our our Team is client comes #1 no matter what……at all times. So many agents lose track of who they work for and that’s why it’s a daily reminder clients always come First, everything else is secondary. We feel it’s important to have like minded people surround you and what your company goals stand for. Slow to hire and quick to fire. We have made large strides with our goals and alot of that contributes to our Team Coach who does weekly one on one zoom calls with each of the players on the team. We have been engaged with Glen for over a 1 1/2 years. I personally have learned alot about myself and how to be an effective leader. You can never stop learning and you are never that good to stop doing what got you to the TOP.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Start off with a great hike around the Gateway Loop in the McDowell Mountains. After a quick shower and clean up cruise over to Scottsdale Quarter and grab lunch at True Food. Take in a little shopping at all the cool stores. Then to wrap up the afternoon take a stroll along Marguerite Lake in McCormick Ranch. The views of the lake and McDowell mountains is breathe taking. My favorite time of day to do this is right before sunset. The reflection of the mountains on the water and the sun hitting the mountain makes for an unbelievable scene of color.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Kim Panozzo for always supporting me through the ups and downs of life. We have been married for 29 years, we have 2 beautiful daughter’s and one amazing grand daughter. We have been through a lot to get to this point in our life. It hasn’t been easy but the end results are unbelievable. We are stronger than ever both personally and as a power couple. The future and beyond is going to be an exciting journey and I cannot wait to do it with you!
