We had the good fortune of connecting with David and Sylvaine Capron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David and Sylvaine, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Our job as Portrait Photographer is to capture memories that people will enjoy forever. We want to create memories that are unique to each of our clients and will touch them every time they look at their Portraits.

With that in mind, we are very particular with the experience and finished artwork that we offer. Everything has to be perfect, no compromise!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our tagline is “Unconditional Love Captured Here” best captures what we are all about. We are part of a small but talented group of dog photographers, but our mission is besides capturing great shots of your dog is that we recognize that the dog is a huge part of the family and our mission is to capture and highlight that relationship.

We’ve also recognized that capturing these portraits in a purpose built studio without distraction is the very best way to get dogs and people relaxed, so we built one. We installed top quality lighting and made a dedicated Gallery space for final presentation of the images we’ve helped create.

It has all been a learning process with trial and errors, it’s not easy, kind like the old saying it’s much easier to create beautiful art than it is to make a living from it but we’ve been around now for nearly 20 years and we like to think we’re improving all aspects of what we do on the daily. It is just the two of us running the Studio and we are constantly brainstorming to improve our clients experience and maintain the quality of our work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are in Orange County, so we’d spend our first few days there, if they’re lucky they surf, so we’d take them to enjoy some of the world’s best surf breaks and soak in the local surf scene. HB has a great Dog Beach so there for some Sandy fuzz therapy. Disney love it or hate it, we find that Drunk Disney is by far the best way to enjoy the people watching.

What is unique to our area is access to the Arts. We like to take our guests to the Symphony or a Broadway show at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Let’s not forget that all the bands in the world pass through SoCal and if punk shows are your thing, and they are, that’s where we’re going, from the Observatory, HOB or smaller spots like La Santa in Santa Ana or Alex’s Bar in Long Beach.

Then we’re stepping up north to see a show at The Shrine or The Walt Disney Concert Hall or for a little Rock and Roll history, stopping in at the Whiskey.

During the quite days we might beat some culture in to them at the Broad where we’d book a slot for the Mirror Room or dive into local life at the Best of Low at the Petersen, then we’d make them watch the reality of SoCal traffic from the perch at the Getty.

We also enjoy very genteel visits at the very OC, OC Museum of Art and maybe the Bowers Museum though we hate the parking payment system which they really should change, can you tell it’s super annoying?

As to restaurants and bars there’s only LA, pre-game Trejo’s Tacos or Empenadas at the Farmers Market, then across the street for a very late night at our favorite cocktail bar Blue Collar. Then for dinner the next evening there’s currently only one place to eat, and we’re certain about this so don’t argue, we are definitely going to Bavel. If you want it all in one place and also get to enjoy the high speed thrill of The Angel’s flight funicular, then there’s Grand Central where we enjoy a sausage and the best fries in California at Berlin Currywurst .

We are very lucky to be where we are and enjoy every minute of it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have so many people who helped and supported us along the way. One main character is
Shawn Buckley, the founder of Just Food For Dogs, who inspired us to transition from a more traditional Portrait Studio to a “Pet centric” Portrait Studios.
