We had the good fortune of connecting with David Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal for me, is to have my own studio. I feel inspired when I rent out other studios for my photography, and I have a plan on what my studio will look like. Professionally for me is already having a stable job for photography, having celebrity clientele, having multiple studios, and for me to teach other creatives about photography.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography is a lot of fun, but it has its obstacles. There’s so much competition, and what sets me apart from others is my personality. I’m such an introvert, but I remember my instructor, Rose Cefalu, told me, “being shy will get you nowhere” so til this day that quote has been stuck with me. I broke out of my shell and started interacting with my models, and making sure that everyone on set is comfortable. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get through everything, but most of the time I’m investing on myself and others. I always live by, “you have to spend money, to make money” and til this day it’s paying off. I want the world to know that your dreams can become into a reality, you just have to work and push yourself hard if you really want it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Palm Springs is my getaway if my friend is coming down to California. Great restaurants around the area and it’s such a fun vacation to get away from reality. Also, highly recommend Venice Beach for the full on california experience. Fun in the sun is great, and many bars to have a drink and a snack. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my family and friends for believing in my creativity. There’s nothing better than your loved ones supporting you on what you do. Also, I would love to thank my photography instructors who helped me with the tools I needed to get by in the photography world.
