We had the good fortune of connecting with David Victori and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is key on the evolution of my career.
Since I was really young I knew exactly what I wanted to do: write and direct my own movies and tvshows. During all theses years I was moving towards this goal, the temptation to become something similar but not exactly this was a constant temptation during the process.
I wanted to learn in all the areas where my dream job was related, so I worked as a actor, editor, camera, writer for another directors or director for another writers. And all these periods of time where you have a salary doing something similar but not exactly the same you wanted the temptation is the same: STAY HERE, SAVE MONEY and you will keep trying to rich your dream in some distant future. Wrong. That is never the correct attitude, at least not for me.
Any time I felt I learnt enough on one area, I rejected new projects in order to move on to the next step. And know for sure, almost all the people around you will tell you that you are wrong. You are the only one who can step out from the confort zone and start again trying outside the confort zone. Of course you have a lot of inner fears, because you don’t know if you will be able to reach you ultimate goal and you put yourself in places where the money can be an issue. But under my experience, every time I did that, my career evolve to a next level. Of course with a lot of challenges and problems, but for me it’s the only way to keep moving forward.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Write and Direct stories is under my point of view the most amazing job ever. It’s the job where your raw material is LIFE ITSELF. So it’s a job where you are most of the time thinking about feelings, relationships, live and death. And I am in love with being alive, so I can’t see another career better for me.
The path until today has been very very difficult. A lot of problems. A lot of moments where everything seems that goes agains your dream. A lot of difficult balances and decisions that you are losing whatever you choose. You have to learn how to start again and how to find another options to keep moving thorough your dream.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been very lucky to have a lot of mentors during my career. The first one and the most important one was Bigas Luna who teach me everything about my career when I was just 17. I started to work with him as a personal assistant and I was working with him for 5 years. He gave me all the confidence I needed to try to accomplish my dream.
