We had the good fortune of connecting with Davide Fiore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Davide, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It came naturally after high school. I used to edit videos of school pranks when I was 17-18 and made a Pranks DVD collection years before YouTube and Facebook started. Then I had to choose the college. My parents wanted me to become a doctor but I couldn’t see myself there. When I discovered that I could be paid doing what I liked… hell yeah! I jumped on it. Not knowing anybody in this business, no family connections, or people to learn from I had to pave my way for myself. The future was uncertain but exciting… and still, it is like that. In the past 16 years of my career, I’ve never known what to expect from the next month but I’m still here doing it. And with this pure recklessness toward the future, I’ve produced and directed my first feature film, A Little Fellow. It’s the story of the Founder of Bank of America, A.P. Giannini. It has been a tough challenge but I learned a lot. Again, I don’t know what to expect from the future but it’s gonna be great.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a bilingual video editor and director based in Los Angeles, California, with a great passion for movies and storytelling. For over 15 years, I’ve been working documentaries, music videos, commercials, short films, and TV shows.
I never had a straight path and I kept shaping it along the way. I started my job in Italy, then I moved to Germany and finally to the US. But even here I thought I would end up in NYC but my story brought me for a little period in San Francisco and finally in L.A.
I would never thought that I could end up editing movies in L.A.
Since I was in Middle School, I love electronic music and photography. Some of my pictures ended up on Vogue Italy in the past and I still like to take my camera on my trips. When I’m not in my editing room, I’m probably spinning some records or visiting some cool museum.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh yes! That’s the funny part. We can talk about them the whole day. Well, not in priority order but I’d say Venice Beach is a must-have, stay there for the sunset and then a drink at the Townhouse. A good hike on the Hollywood hills is worth it, a tour of the Warner Bros studios, a visit at the Academy Museum, a day on the rides of Disneyland or Universal Studios, a dinner at El Coyote, an Italian dinner at the N10 or Via Veneto, a steak at the Smokehouse, a breakfast at Porto’s in Burbank, a drink and some jazz music at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, … and the list can go on and on and on…
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big shoutout to My wife Chiara, my parents Gerardo and Maria Rosaria and my brother Daniele for the support in my entire life.
