We had the good fortune of connecting with dayeon jang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi dayeon, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Paying more attention to what I like. Constantly exploring what I like. I can get the source from there and use it in my work. I think that’s what makes the work special.
And not thinking too much. Personally, I tend to think a lot, but when it comes to my work, I try to think simply.
In fact, there were cases where the more you thought about something, the more you ruined it. I think that if I have fun, other people can also have the same fun.
So, I try to think as much as possible and not get stressed. It’s not easy, but I think you have to find the part where you can have fun.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started with the mindset of heading to the ground. I just started because I liked it. Of course, I was scared, but I don’t think there was any concept of failure. There were many days when I stayed up all night crying in front of the oven because of just one recipe. However, the feeling that I started just because I liked it has played a core role in my career to this day. That feeling is the most important.Even though it’s hard because of those emotions, it allows me to stand in front of the oven again. So the lesson I learned while doing this job is to never give up until the end. And always stay focused because the smallest detail can ruin everything.
Everyone will feel this, but if I didn’t love this job, I would have given up quickly. Sometimes I feel love and hate, but I don’t think there’s anything else that makes me laugh and feel excited. It’s like a romantic relationship, haha. The way I love this work may be different from other people, but I think it would be good for the world to know that I love and cherish this work a lot.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were to visit Seoul, where I live, I would probably want to show them my work first. House Dosan nudake in Gangnam and nudake in Sinsa are similar places, but they have different concepts, so I would like to take them both. House Dosan’s nudake has more elegant and fancy desserts, but Sinsa’s nudake is a reinterpretation of the croissant. Since it is a slightly younger concept, I think it will be fun to try two different concepts. Then I think I’ll have pudding and cocktails at Hills and Europa in Haebangchon. This is because it is a place I often visit with my close friends. The interior, cocktails, and music are all great.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Music, books, and family and friends
These four are important elements that can never be left out in my life. But among these, I am most influenced by my friends.
I gain overall inspiration from leisurely and free conversations with them. And because I always make birthday cakes for my friends.
You could say I get inspiration from each and every one of them.
and they always have with open arms and gives me confidence, even though sometimes I’m sensitive and think too much.
And even if I fail at something, they not only comfort me but also help me create a better tomorrow.
