We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbi James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debbi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was both exciting and terrifying. The fear of whether I could make it work or wondering if I could really support myself and make a living was always there. But deep down, I knew that being in control of my own dreams and having the freedom to pursue my vision was worth the risk. It’s incredibly empowering to know that my success is in my hands, and despite the uncertainty, I’ve never looked back. Taking that leap was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. This version captures the fear, the empowerment of independence, and the validation of my decision.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is an expression of my journey—both as a singer and a songwriter. I’ve always believed in the power of music to connect people, and I pour my heart into every song I create. What sets me apart is that I bring my unique blend of influences, my personal experiences, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way into my music. Whether it’s a powerful ballad or an upbeat track, I strive to create something authentic and relatable.

I’ve had the incredible opportunity to perform all over the world alongside A-list artists like Enrique Iglesias, Anastacia, Usher , and many more. Each of these experiences has shaped me into the artist I am today. But getting to this point hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced challenges, particularly with language barriers and finding my voice as an artist. I’ve had to fight through self-doubt, hustle through tough times, and perfect my craft.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience and perseverance. There were times when it felt like nothing was going the way I envisioned, but I kept pushing because I knew my dreams were worth fighting for. The other lesson has been about staying true to myself—sticking to my vision even when the industry pushes you to conform.

I want the world to know that my brand is about authenticity, hard work, and always striving for growth. Every step of my journey has been a building block, and every challenge has taught me something valuable. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and the music I’m creating right now. The journey isn’t over, but I’m excited to keep evolving and sharing my art with the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week, I’d probably give them a mix of relaxation and some adventure, but with a bit of a twist—I’m definitely more of an indoor person, as funny as that might sound! People might look at my social media and think I’m all about the parties and late nights, but honestly, I’m all about taking time for myself to think, create, and plan the next big thing for my life and business. I’m a big early bird, so I love starting my day with the birds and a workout. So, for the first day, we’d get up early and head to the beach for a morning walk. Living in Florida, the beach is definitely one of my favorite places—there’s something so peaceful about it. After our walk, we’d grab breakfast at a cute local café and just enjoy some quiet time. I’d probably then take my friend on a scenic hike or nature walk, as I really enjoy being outside, surrounded by nature—it helps me clear my mind.
Throughout the week, I’d keep it chill, exploring new places, and I’d definitely take them to some of the local hotspots. I’m not much of a night owl, so I’m more into going out and about during the day. If they wanted to check out the nightlife though, I’d call up my girl Shir Golabry—she’s got the inside scoop on all the best parties and places to be in town! She always knows where the action is.
We’d probably end up at some trendy lunch spots, check out local art galleries, and enjoy a few low-key nights, maybe catching a sunset or grabbing dinner at a relaxed but fun restaurant. The idea is to take in the local vibe, without feeling the need to go all out. I love surrounding myself with inspiring people and moments that make me think, so that’s what I’d want my friend to experience too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I have to thank God for opening doors and bringing opportunities into my life. Without His guidance, none of this would be possible. I’m incredibly grateful for His blessings.

I also want to shout out my family, friends, and day-one fans who’ve been there since the beginning—watching me grow, helping me overcome language barriers, and sticking by me through the struggles of finding myself as an artist. Your belief in me kept me going even when it felt tough. You’ve made me feel like I have something to prove, and that drive has been everything. I’m so thankful that you never stopped believing in me.

A huge shoutout to my parents—though they’re no longer here with me, everything I am today is thanks to their hard work and sacrifices.

And of course, I want to give special recognition to my amazing team: producers Jew Da Best, my photographer Ella Bar, makeup artist Ortal Labrecque, and Amit Wijesuriya Arachchige (Ceyben Productions) for their incredible work on my latest single, Losin’ Out (now available on all streaming platforms with the music video on YouTube!). Working with such talented people has been a dream come true.

Me and Jew Da Best (Liron Danieli) have so much new music dropping in the coming weeks, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Shoutout to everyone I’ve worked with and continue to work with—each of you has played an important role in helping me build this dream. I truly believe that to reach your dreams, you need a strong team, and I’m lucky to have mine.
