We had the good fortune of connecting with Debora Rosatto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debora, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
I would not say it was a decision but rather a realization. In my early teen years, when I decided I wanted to be an actress, I thought I would become a star immediately. I had heard stories from A-List actors saying it took them years for them to get to where they were at the time, but I swore that would not be my case. I thought I would not need to go to university, work in a different field and conciliate it with acting or audition for various projects before receiving a ‘yes’. But as the years went by, as I matured, I realized I was living in a world of fantasy and I needed to get down to Earth. I believe the hardest part was connected to the realization that I was growing up and suddenly the sky wasn’t so blue and the grass wasn’t so green. When I realized that adulthood was knocking on my door and I needed to build my life, it was a shock and painful, to be completely honest. Growing up is hard, but necessary.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Brazilian actress born and raised in the countryside. I was born away from the entertainment centers and with no connection to the industry, so I started from the bottom: from idolizing a world that I only saw on the media and thought was so easy to conquer to understanding the reality of life, accepting it and working hard to make my dreams come true. It was not an easy journey by any means, but it has taught me a lot. And one of the most valuable ones was that I do not control everything, no matter how much I try and want to. For that, the best decision I made was to surrender myself and my life to God. A while ago, I suffered a lot trying to control every single detail of my life and thinking I only needed myself to make things happen. And as an actor, we only control a minimum part of our journey and career. We are constantly depending on other people – an agent to represent us, a casting director to send us an audition request, a director to decide that they want to work with us, the audience going to the theaters to watch our movie or playing it on streaming etc. But when I understood I only controlled a few things and decided to put my dedication, time and energy into these things and letting go of what was out of my reach, letting God do His part of the job, I found immense peace and there is no better feeling than that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Everyone knows LA. Why don’t we switch it and let’s walk around my hometown in Brazil, shall we? We would start the day by going to the bakery and having breakfast. Pão de Queijo and black coffee is the best combination. Then, we would go around downtown and go shopping at the local stores. By lunch time, we would stop at a local restaurant and choose our food for the day. We can have Galinhada with Tutu, Feijoada or a typical plate formed by rice, beans (I still do not understand why you would add sugar to beans), carne assada, salad and french fries. With a good can of Guaraná: chef’s kiss. Then we would do more shopping and stop for dessert. You can pick ice cream or our famous Açaí. For açaí, feel free to add whatever you like: granola, strawberries, bananas, Nutella, powdered milk, condensed milk and so many more options. After desert, we would go back to the bakery for what we call in Brazil, Café da Tarde. You can have the same or pick something else, for example, bolo de fubá. For dinner, we would either repeat what we had for lunch or go to another restaurant and have some Frango à Parmegiana. And for the other days? Do the exact same things. Welcome to life in a small town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be here without my parents. They are the most important people in my life. They have been through all the ups and downs of my life with me and have never let go of my hand. They taught everything I know from how to talk, how to walk to how to live. I am who I am today, thanks to them and I do everything to honor them and to thank them for all the love, support and knowledge they have given me since the very beginning.
