We had the good fortune of connecting with Debra Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DEBRA, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been crafting for 3 years – creating magnets and vintage-inspired jewelry. I sold my creations at Farmer’s Markets and pop-up boutiques. I wanted to create an indoor space for all the artisans I had met over the years – where we would not have to battle the weather and would not have to set up and break down every day. At Artfully Made, we have a lovely space in the Historic Arts District of Canoga Park to showcase our handmade items 5 days a week!.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began making acrylic magnets featuring the wise sayings of my Mom because I was missing her and when I make the magnets, I feel close to her. I branched out into magnets crafted of vintage material and then inspirational magnets. A year ago, I began making vintage-inspired jewelry. Then, we opened the shop in April of 2024.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Getty Villa then lunch at Gladstone’s for Fish.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I so appreciate all the artisans that are on this adventure with me. They contribute their talents freely to advertise the shop and sponsor events/classes.
