Meet Delorean Redd | Confidence Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Delorean Redd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delorean, how does your business help the community?
I believe that a healthier, happier world begins with a healthy, happy individual. As a Confidence Life Coach, I partner with my clients to help reclaim their sense of identity, become the best version of themselves while transforming into who God called them to be! What’s interesting is that, while I consider myself a pretty awesome confidence coach, I do not teach people how to build “confidence”, That is the byproduct of a journey we go on where my clients can see the most beautiful, powerful parts about themselves, allowing them to fall in love with, and gain confidence in the “YOU they never knew”! Confidence building positively impacts leadership, parenting, and every social role we take part in. It is my hearts mission to positively impact the world one individual at a time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Would you believe that this journey began with me going to school to be a heart surgeon (cardio thoracic surgeon)! I was married with two children, taking a full load of classes while working in a hospital when everything in my life changed overnight. After 4 years of marriage we divorced and shortly after, the world was hit with Covid 19. During that time I had an identity crisis! My love for healthcare seemed to fade in an instant as many healthcare providers during that time experienced a burnout. “So what now”, I would ask myself. I’m no longer a wife. I won’t be a heart surgeon. Every title, every label I clung to was ripped away and I realized that although I’d been with myself my entire life, I had no idea who I was. I’d reached an all time low! It was at that moment that I decided to go on a self discovery journey! I set out to find me, learn me through art, dance, pottery, yoga, and travel. Each experience was a gift, presenting me with a piece of me I never knew existed. I began to meet, befriend and connect with so many amazing individuals. One of which was a life coach. When this powerful woman began to educate me on her profession, my heart came alive and from that moment, I knew what I wanted to do!
As a confidence coach, what’s interesting is that I do not teach my clients how to “be confident”. I am simply here to show you how to fall in love with the different pieces of you that you never knew! This is done through healing, and by removing limiting beliefs. The person that evolves from these actionable steps and activities is the person you will be confident in! Coaching is not a business to me, but a ministry. One that allows people to exist outside of social pressure. One that helps remove labels we often carry, many beginning with childhood. Labels that have been placed on us that ultimately impact how we behave and interact, My life’s mission is to help my clients find and fall in love with what makes you YOU, ! What I find amusing is that I did end up becoming a heart surgeon after all, just not in the surgery room.
Along this journey I’ve learned a few things. The first is that every obstacle and/or challenge we face in life comes hand in hand with an opportunity to champion a new level. It’s all a matter of perspective. I’ve also learned that your life’s purpose is often connected to your greatest hardships and that we all have within us the solution to a problem that exists in the world. We just have to let it out. Lastly, the greatest lesson I’ve learned is that Life Is A Journey! Our only task is to take life one day, one moment, one experience, one lesson at a time and make something meaningful out of it all!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting and I wanted to show them the best time ever, we would have to start with dinner at The Apparatus Room located downtown Detroit. The DJ here is always amazing. From there, we’ll head over to the Monarch Club to enjoy Detroit’s skyline on their beautiful rooftop. Considering that my best friend and I love dancing, the next day we’ll have to visit Detroit Dance Loft for salsa, kizomba, and bachata. Another thing we truly enjoy are picnics. One of my favorite spots to picnic is Cranbrook House and Gardens. In our basket we’d have to have our fruit (I’m a mango and pineapples person myself), waters and a few ridiculously delicious vegan burgers from Trap Vegan. Nothing life a good meal, beautiful scenery, and girl chat!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my college mentor, Orlando Gregory. I am forever grateful for the seeds he planted in me during a crucial developmental stage of my life. Mr. Gregory drilled in my head the importance of education, influence and impact. He would always say, “the most important thing on your tombstone is not the day you were born or the day you pass away, but it’s the dash in the middle! What are you going to do with your dash Delorean”? A constant reminder that we are all sent here with an assignment inside of us that is not meant to leave here with us Mr. Gregory saw me far bigger than I ever saw myself. During times where I felt life was going a little tough, not only did he encourage me, but he taught me how to encourage myself and to search for the opportunity inside of every obstacle! I am a product of his teachings and as he would say, “Im just getting started”. Thank you for being you Mr. Orlando Gregory.
