We had the good fortune of connecting with DeMario “Marquis” Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DeMario “Marquis”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My father initially inspired me to start my business, planting the seed of entrepreneurship within me. After he passed away, my motivation wavered. However, my mother and grandmother became the driving forces that pushed me to continue the process, giving me the encouragement and support I needed to persevere. Their belief in my vision and my potential fueled my determination to succeed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my makeup artistry, and my approach to makeup is what truly sets me apart. I focus on enhancing natural beauty while also being innovative and creative. I believe in tailoring each look to the individual, ensuring that their unique features and personality shine through. What excites me the most is the transformative power of makeup and how it can boost confidence and express individuality.
Getting to where I am today professionally was not easy. I faced numerous challenges, including finding my niche, building a clientele, and staying motivated during tough times. I overcame these obstacles through perseverance, continuous learning, and the unwavering support of my family. Their encouragement helped me push through the tough times and stay focused on my goals.
Throughout my journey, I’ve learned the importance of patience, resilience, and staying true to my vision. One key lesson is the value of continuous learning and adaptation. The beauty industry is ever-evolving, and staying current with trends and techniques is essential.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s built on a foundation of passion, authenticity, and a desire to make a meaningful impact. My makeup artistry is a reflection of my journey, my struggles, and my triumphs. It’s a testament to the idea that with dedication and support, we can turn our dreams into reality. My goal is to inspire others to pursue their passions and to appreciate the beauty and confidence that makeup can bring into their lives.
