We had the good fortune of connecting with Yasmine Verberckt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yasmine, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Ultimately my work is about making people feel good by truly feeling like themselves. Whether by removing anxiety, sleeping better, attracting a better partner, improve communication or overall mindset. Once a person feels good, speaks their truth and honor their boundaries; it has a direct impact on the people around them. We all know that when we feel good, we speak to our loved ones in a lighter and easier way, we make better feeling decisions and now those people get to feel better and therefore have a more positive and joyful impact on the people around them. It becomes this genuine positive snowball effect in a family, a workplace, a community. When 1 person does better, every person that in some form has a connection, benefits as well. This is literally the pay off of ‘BE the change you’d like to see in the world’. I am grateful I get to be a part of that positive healthy domino effect. Of course at times I will offer no or low cost meditation sessions, especially during this challenging 2020 year. There too it begins within, with just 1 person, 1 decision, 1 moment.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a hypnotherapist there are some unique obstacles that perhaps the majority of industries do not have to overcome. That is the myths, stories, disbelief and misinformation surrounding the topic of hypnosis. I am quite proud to be able to share with people the science behind why it works (yes it is real), how it works and what we will do to make it work for them in an understandable and concise manner. I have the utmost admiration for any individual who gets up in the morning, even though they are struggling and in pain, trying to find solutions when they have tried many many modalities and yet still pick up the phone and show up. It takes courage and strength to do so. I am always honored to be able to walk alongside them on their journey and I take it quite seriously and very personally. I quite literally CARE about every person that comes into my office seeking hope, solutions, guidance and tools to be the best they can be. That care translates into taking the time to listen with focus, hear their story, empathize and shift to solutions. Not by merely telling them but by showing them, by having them experience a part of themselves that they may not have known was possible. Of course the check-ins with clients afterwards are fun and unique. I am still in touch with people of years ago. It makes a difference. I will at times take ALL of my client files and send reiki one by one, regardless whether they have seen me recently or I haven’t heard from them in a while. I WILL hold a great vision for them and see them as happy and accomplished. I have been told I run my business like good hearted folk in the ’50’s, it’s personal, service matters, quality matters, people matter. None of what I have build was easy. There have been tears, late late late nights, early early early mornings, multiple jobs while building the practice, doubt and fears. What has been and always will be extremely helpful is practicing what I preach. Self hypnosis, focus and letting go. Which brings me to the lessons learned, in letting go you do not in fact give up, quite the opposite. In letting go you allow a moment of reprieve while opening doors for ‘things’ to come TO you. It may sound odd reading this at first yet that is in fact the lesson. When it can be fully understood and therefore experienced deliberately, success is a natural outcome. If only the world would know just how powerful hypnosis and reiki are. Just how much possibility and answers and solutions are built within. That there is access to it all. That our minds shape our experiences, emotions and that one does not have to be at the mercy of any of it. That things can be changed for the good regardless of how you grew up, who you grew up with, how long a problem has been there etc. If only… however I am fortunate that many know, benefit and are living their lives at their optimal level because of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oooh, there is no shortage of great hiking trails in Los Angeles with some breathtaking views and at the right time even a waterfall. A bit of kayaking in the marina followed by a great local seafood meal perhaps at Malibu seafood on the PCH with the occasional dolphin that pops it’s head up playfully, great fresh food and yes you can bring your own wine, desserts, tablecloths. It’s an upgraded picnic in a charming setting. Malibu Pier has some great cocktails to offer. Perhaps a surfing lesson or some whale watching for fun. Lets not forget about the City Walk and a bike ride in Venice with all of its quirks and artsy feel yet is there anything like a good old fashioned barbecue at home followed by a cheese plate with deliciously paired wines? Ojai has wonderful places to meditate and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Camping grounds in Sequoia, Tahoe allow for a full feel of what California is all about. When in California, enjoying the ability to be outdoors fully might be a good rule of thumb in my humble opinion.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My life has been blessed with wonderful people on my, at times, challenging pathway. It would be remiss to not acknowledge my parents. They show the way when we are most vulnerable and dependent on all of their choices and decisions. I think I can say, they made the right ones allowing me to become the best version of myself. There are many friends, mentors and a network of professionals that have believed in me, guided me, supported me and picked me up at times when hope was not to be found within. The worry with naming names is to be human and forget a few. I think of each of them fondly and I know they know who they are. I can only but hope that throughout the years and still in years to come, I am reminded time and time again to keep thanking them. There are some wonderful books written that have been extremely beneficial in my ability to believe in what is possible. Of course any hypnotic material that helped shape and better my techniques and understanding of my skill. Also books like “Think & Grow Rich”, “6 Figure Women”, “The Power of the Subconscious Mind”, I could go on and on and on. Gratitude is a wonderful and powerful state to be in.
