We had the good fortune of connecting with Demirhan Erim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Demirhan, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for uLouder came from a simple but powerful vision: imagine putting a megaphone into everyone’s pocket. I wanted to create a mobile application where, in any situation—whether it’s an emergency, a local event, or a neighborhood announcement—everyone’s voice could be heard instantly, and help or connection could come from anyone nearby. The inspiration came from seeing how disconnected we’ve become, even while living so close together. We’re more connected than ever online, yet people still face loneliness and isolation in their own communities. With uLouder, I wanted to change that by fostering real, local connections, and supporting small businesses. Businesses can use the platform to make digital announcements—like a happy hour special or a neighborhood event—creating a more engaged and thriving community. We’re already part of something bigger; we just need the right tool to realize it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
uLouder is a mobile platform designed to connect communities through real-time, location-based communication. What sets us apart is our focus on positive content. Unlike other platforms filled with complaints, we aim to foster kindness, help, and a sense of community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, elderly users posted their needs, and younger neighbors stepped up to do their groceries, meeting those needs. In times of natural disasters, like earthquakes, uLouder becomes an essential tool for instant local communication and support.

It wasn’t easy because we’re doing something bigger than tech—we’re reshaping social culture. The culture of kindness, help, and community that we once had but somehow lost. My goal is to bring that back. Resiliency and dedication helped us overcome challenges. We listened to every user and read every piece of content to truly understand what people needed—even when they didn’t know themselves. Many felt alone, and we wanted uLouder to be their connection.

Ultimately, what I want the world to know about uLouder is that we’re not just building a business; we’re building a way for people to truly connect and support one another in their communities. Our story is one of resilience, purpose, and the belief that every voice should be heard.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One evening, we’ll start with a Huntington Harbour boat rental, bringing our own food and drinks to enjoy the sunset on the water. Another night, we’ll head to Nobu Malibu for a stunning oceanfront dinner as the sun sets.

On a different day, we’ll take a walk down Rodeo Drive at night—it’s both safe and economical, with all the stores closed but the iconic vibe still present. Another afternoon, we’ll grab Kazunori hand rolls in Marina del Rey.

For a scenic day, we’ll stop at 10Speed Cafe in Calabasas for oat milk lattes and then drive to Santa Barbara for the best fried calamari at Brophy Bros. One morning, we’ll have breakfast at Republique or the Beverly Hills Hotel, followed by coffee at Maru Espresso Bar on Canon Dr.

We’ll also drive by the Hollywood Walk of Fame for a quick tour and spend a few hours at Venice Beach, exploring the shops on Abbot Kinney. To wrap up, we’ll enjoy dinner at Little Door or Norma and finish the night with drinks at Bungalow after sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a huge part of my journey to the incredible support and love I’ve received from my wife, Seray. She’s not only been my constant source of motivation but has also helped me realize my path, know myself, and understand that the universe is a reflection of my mind. I also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my mom and dad, who provided me with the freedom to explore and pursue my dreams—freedom, after all, is the most expensive luxury in the world after health. A special thank you to Ceviz, my golden retriever, who taught me how to enjoy every moment while he was with us. I’m also grateful to everyone I’ve met along the way; each person has taught me something valuable. Finally, a word of thanks to my competitors and even the haters—they’ve pushed me to grow, improve, and strive for better, and for that, I’m truly grateful.
