We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Benz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The process behind starting my business began after I read the book E-Myth Revised. The book explained how so many people dive into starting a business based on a passion. Once they start the business they discover all the other spokes on the wheel of entrepreneurship that are necessary to move forward. I discovered that for example, a baker may be amazing at making beautiful desserts but lack the skill to create an image and brand for their business. This same person may have zero experience in how to communicate their USP (unique selling proposition). I’ve met some amazing people with a tremendous passion but they lack the skills and or resources to truly position their business to compete, expand become what it deserves to be. From NFL icons to self-development gurus and celebrities. I’ve been able to help clients breathe life into their businesses or brand. Whether I’m reviewing contracts, creating business processes, or doing a complete rebrand of their entire company all entrepreneurs need someone with the vision to see their brand beyond where it’s at, and the ability to execute it. Helping others visually match their brand with the level of service they deliver is my gift. I believe this helps them keep the joy that inspired them to start the business in the first place. I figured if I could do that we would have more businesses that are client-centric and focused on simply doing good. What should our readers know about your business?
I was asked once how did I attract celebrity clientele to my company. People will ask what did I do to market to them. I believe that they are attracted to my heart of service and my desire to see them win. I’m often told my authenticity shines brighter than any marketing tool I could ever create.

I’ve never solicited a client. Once we meet, I choose to work with them based on their desire to do more good in the world. What they do for a living is never a factor. My clients come from all walks of life, from celebrities to everyday people and I love it. The common denominator is their desire to impact others with their gift. Everyone has come to me based on a referral or personal connection. This is why I always tell people to focus on producing results not chasing dollars or clout.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to say San Diego is at the top of my list. One of my favorite breakfast places is Pacifica Breeze in Del Mar, The Grilled Salmon, is amazing and it’s the only place I have chai tea instead of coffee. For lunch, I love taking friends to PCG in Cardiff because the fresh hot rosemary bread just melts in your mouth. One of my favorite wine spots is SIP in Escondido. Jazz in Carlsbad Balboa Park and of course the Gaslamp. Because you never get enough of San Diego and any of our breathtaking sunsets tends to melt even the heaviest heart. I would make sure every night we capture it at a new beach!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with international speaker Tony Robbins and the beautiful icon actress Kim Coles. My mother use to say you know a person by the company they keep and this journey has allowed me to meet some fantastic people along with way. I’m forever grateful for their trust in allowing me to represent their brands.
