We had the good fortune of connecting with Denny & Mira Zimmerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denny & Mira, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We are a husband and wife team. MILKMAN was started out of a need to create together. milkman in itself is a combination of our surnames. Working as freelance designers in studios all over town we rarely got to work together or work on projects that were making an impact on peoples lives. The thought was to have a studio where friends, family, and all people can come and start their own brand, It doesn’t take much to have the freedoms of making income on the side or as your main source of money. We knew we could provide a service that could kick off peoples dreams on a small or large scale. So MILKMAN was developed.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are proud to say that we have a business, that we took that risk. It feels good to know that we are slowly building something. The biggest challenge for us is we rarely focus on the growth of our business and more on the work we provide for others. Over coming this challenge is not easy because its our passion to create visuals for what was merely someone’s idea. From creating a brand identity to creating animations and 3D mockups for our client’s invention, we love seeing their dreams become a reality. As time passes the idea of what MILKMAN is also changes but the constant is that we are designers that want to provide something useful to the world. I feel we are right in the middle of our story and the best is yet to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For 10 years + we lived off Hollywood Blvd on two different streets. Always close to the subway. Its a rare thing on the west coast to use city transportation, but a great way to get to Downtown and not worry about parking. Starting from Hollywood Blvd trying to point out her hidden and forgotten details to reveal her history. Musso and Franks for dinner the first night would be nice. Subway to downtown going to Perch for lunch and grabbing more food and shopping at Grand Central Market but mainly to view Angels Flight. Also stopping for beer and art at Angel City Brewery Before moving west, Langer’s Deli is a must. MacArthur park was once LA’s version of Central Park trying to paint the picture over Langer’s Chili Cheese Fries or getting Ice Cream at HoneyMee on Wilshire where the old Derby Hat Restaurant once was only to end the day relaxing at Griffith Park. This park can be a full day of discovery. A hike to Griffith Observatory and Lunch and Dessert at The Trails Cafe. are a way to show Los Angele’s different landscapes and contrast to the city life. Yamashiro’s view and Kensho hollywood are private quiet places with a real historical view of the whole city. Moving west we would hit up Sawtelle for food and shopping before ending up at the ocean for the final days of the trip. Eating at the original Hot Dog On A Stick in Santa Monica to spending time at the Eames House and enjoy her valley in the Palisades. Finally to show the whole coast we would take our guest up CA 1 to Neptunes Nest. LA is full of hidden adventures, food, and art. Too much too mention! but we love our city and all the drama and scandal that built it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
DABSMYLA and the Ray and Charles EAMES  are extremely talented couples in the design world that MILKMAN admires and has always been inspired by their teamwork and joy they bring to people of all ages by what they create together.
