We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Dowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devin, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
There’s no such thing as a smooth road, we all face different challenges in life. For me I’ve always pushed for what I want in life. I feel as if things get better when you keep a positive mind set. Never tell yourself “ I’m not good enough “ because you’re exactly where you need to be and you’re perfect. Things line up perfectly in time, “trust the universe” as Ariana Grande would say.

Keep pushing for things you want to achieve and complete in your life. Even if one goal isn’t met, make more! Try new things, give your brain ideas that will open new chapters for you. Anything is possible. Trust me, I never thought I’d end up where I’m at today but I’ve set goals and pushed my limits. I believe in you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a 4-year model and a 6-year digital creator. I specialize in making promotion content for some of my favorite brands such as DermaTech Skin, Rhode, Khy, Sprinter Vodka Etc. I love working with small businesses and showing love to their successful journey. Working with these amazing individuals in different fields helps me grow my audience and challenges me to think more outside the box with the content I create.

What makes me most proud is working alongside brands and people that I adore. It’s not every day you wake up and receive love from Hailey Bieber or Kylie Jenner sending brand products before they hit the shelf.

What sets me apart from others is my work ethic, my ability to capture the eye of these brands with my creative content and photoshoots. Another thing that sets me apart is me being a male working in an industry that not many males set foot in, but l want to be able to create change with that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmm that’s hard. I love the city, I think it’s beyond beautiful. I never miss home. I grew up in the country scene so I felt out of place. If I could make a week to some of my favorite spots. I’d definitely head to the museums first. The National Gallery of Art is beyond my favorite place. It’s beautiful.

I’m that person also to lounge around and wear sweatpants through the city with a trench coat and grab coffee, just to have a conversation and relax. I love being able to live in the moment and not feel rushed and don’t want anyone else to feel that way.

My go to places would be anywhere with french toast. I love love french toast, there’s a couple spots in New Jersey that I would want someone to try for sure. For evening time food I could mostly eat anything, I’m not a picky person. I always want the person visiting to enjoy and pick what they are craving before I throw in my ideas.

I feel like my friends and I are really relaxed and chill. We could honestly just go all day laughing and enjoying time seeing the city and small shops. I think that makes the trip so special, I’m really big on memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Every person in my life I feel has been such an influence on me. I never would’ve been close to my goals if it also wasn’t for my family and friends showing love and support. I think my main focus wasn’t only to make myself proud, but was also to see my family happy for my achievements. Also to every single individual who follows me and showing nothing but support makes me truly happy.

I’m reminded of personal individuals who grew up in the same area I did that broke barriers and taught me to have confidence in the art I make, thank you, Ellen and Mason. I will forever credit them and send nothing but positive energy to both for their success.
