We had the good fortune of connecting with Devon Moody and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well my very first business was a candy store lol but when I started business consulting my first firm’s name was Creatively Strategic Solutions, it fit for a few years, however in 2020 right before the pandemic started I created CEOMom Empire LLC. I started the CEOMom movement in 2016 and it only made sense to rebrand.
Growing up as the daughter of a shoe repairman who worked diligently for over 60 years and a talented cosmetologist, I saw firsthand the power of entrepreneurship in supporting families. My parents’ small businesses were the backbone of our household, and they taught me the importance of hard work, relationship building, and resilience. As a mother, I wanted to create a platform that empowers other mothers to pursue their dreams, support their families, and help mothers to Mother Outloud.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My educational and professional background gives me a deep, genuine understanding of the entrepreneurial journey. I’ve turned those life lessons into a vibrant career, helping bring over $4M in capital to small businesses and guiding thousands of budding entrepreneurs. My approach is all about making big dreams achievable and having a blast while doing it. Whether I’m creating innovative programs or jetting off to Paris to inspire other moms, I blend my roles as a mother of four and a business leader with energy and enthusiasm. Balancing family and work isn’t always a walk in the park, but I’ve embraced the chaos and found joy in the journey. My goal is to show others that they can live their dreams, support their families, and have fun along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would be heading to the St. Louis Art Museum first. Next, we would head over to Teatopia and B Juiced.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In this next chapter of my life and business, it’s about accepting help and asking for it. I’m truly for my business besties but LaKetra Blue, LaTonia Bornnard, Ebony Pollard and Ms. Bea have truly helped me to step up my life. I’m so grateful.
