We had the good fortune of connecting with Johanie Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johanie, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important factors behind my success and brand is consistency.  I make sure I keep working on my craft to expand my knowledge and striving for excellence.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It wasn’t easy at first. I painted my entire life for fun and had never shared something so personal to me with the world. However, one day I decided to give it a chance. I started filming myself painting to post on social media and my content got a lot of attention. From there it was like bread crumbs. People ranging from art collectors, production companies and celebrities began contacting me to commission custom pieces.  I was determined and continued to constantly produce art even if it didn’t sell always with a goal of outdoing my last creation. Painting was a release for me, but after receiving so much positive feedback and attention, I decided to start my art company, J.T. Art, one year after I began sharing and showcasing my work. I’ve learned to keep going even when times are hard. Some days it will just be you and you will have moments when you’re tired, discouraged and feel like quitting. But, just when you feel like you have nothing left to give keep pushing and challenging yourself. You will be surprised with what you can accomplish through hardwork and perseverance. I want the world to know I didn’t just arrive on the scene. I’ve been training and working on my craft for years. Although at times it may look that way – it’s not easy. At the end of the day there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the beach! So, one of the first stops would be Malibu for a few days to soak up the sun and take in the ocean breeze. I would also take them to hike Runyon Canyon which is a must see and a wonderful experience. A stroll down Rodeo Drive would also be on the to do list along with  a cool midweek dinner followed by a comedy show. Finally, we would wind down the visit at Nobu before sitting on the beach to watch the sunset.
