Meet Dexter Jordan Brown | Artist Management / Development; Sponsorships / Partnerships Agent; The Recording Academy, Ch. Amb.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dexter Jordan Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dexter Jordan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start my own management and development agency was deeply rooted in my unwavering love and passion for music and artistic expression. I’ve always believed in the power of music to evoke emotion, inspire change, and connect people on a profound level. This passion drove me to want to play a role in nurturing and shaping the careers of talented artists, helping them to realize their full potential and bring their unique vision to life. Furthermore, my desire to forge meaningful relationships within the entertainment industry fueled my decision to embark on this entrepreneurial journey. I thrive on collaboration and teamwork, and I find immense fulfillment in working alongside like minded individuals who share a common passion for excellence and innovation. By establishing my own agency, I saw an opportunity to create a supportive and empowering environment where artists could thrive creatively while receiving strategic guidance and mentorship. My existing relationships with founders and executives of A-list labels and agencies further solidified my belief in the importance of setting and maintaining a certain standard of excellence in artist development and consultation, motivating me to take the leap and start my own business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career is a culmination of passion, perseverance, and a commitment to integrity within the realm of entertainment. What sets me apart is not only my dedication to creativity and innovation but also my ability to foster relationships not only within the entertainment industry but also within influential circles such as the United Nations and the U.S. Congress. This unique trajectory allows me to pursue entertainment ethics and innovative creativity on a global scale, setting me apart from others in the field. I am most proud of the impact I’ve been able to make through my work, both within the entertainment industry and beyond. Building those relationships with key stakeholders in various sectors has allowed me to facilitate positive change and drive innovation at both local and global levels. My ability to navigate between different spheres of influence has opened up opportunities to collaborate on projects that have the potential to make a real difference in the world. Getting to where I am today professionally has been far from easy. However, I’ve learned that challenges are opportunities for growth, and each obstacle has ultimately strengthened my resolve and determination to succeed. Through perseverance, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining integrity, I’ve been able to overcome these challenges and continue moving forward in my career.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is the power of authenticity and staying true to oneself. In an industry often characterized by superficiality and image consciousness, authenticity is a rare and valuable commodity. By remaining true to my values and beliefs, I’ve been able to build genuine connections and earn the trust and respect of those I work with.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that my brand is built on a foundation of integrity, creativity, and a passion for making a positive impact.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A heartfelt shoutout goes to Yung Lock, TV Gucci’s manager and a member of OVO, who has played a pivotal role in my journey. His guidance and insights into the intricacies of the music industry over the years have been invaluable, providing me with a wealth of knowledge and a perspective that has shaped my approach to artist management and development. Yung Lock’s dedication and commitment to the craft have been a true inspiration. I also extend my appreciation to TV Gucci, not only for his artistic prowess but for his friendship and collaboration. As Drake’s best friend and artist, TV Gucci’s journey has been influential, and being part of that trajectory has been a privilege. His creativity and resilience serve as a source of motivation, reminding me of the boundless possibilities within the realm of music and entertainment. Lastly, a special shoutout to Mara Davis and Keymanna Paulas, my mentors from The Recording Academy, whose wisdom and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the industry abroad. Their expertise and encouragement have fueled my aspirations, and I am thankful for the opportunities to have learned under their mentorships.
