We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Montano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success, and the potential success of my brand, lies in the combination of my genuine passion and expertise in esthetics, specifically body waxing, with the personal connection I strive to build with each client. My dedication to this field goes beyond just a profession; it’s a true interest that drives me to continuously learn and provide the highest quality of service. Because it’s my own business, I’m deeply invested in ensuring every individual feels valued, understood, and receives personalized care that delivers real results. That authentic passion, coupled with a commitment to building trust through personal connection, is what I believe is key to both my current achievements and my brand’s future growth in the esthetics industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What truly sets my waxing business apart is the genuine connection I prioritize with each and every client. Before we even begin a service, I take the time to truly listen to their individual wants and expectations. With over a decade as a licensed esthetician, specializing in both facial and body waxing for that entire time, I bring a depth of experience and a commitment to transparency. My goal is for every client to feel completely safe and confident that they are in expert hands.

Looking back, launching my solo venture a little over a year ago is something I’m incredibly proud of. The excitement of continuing to build my client base fuels me every day. My passion truly lies in the treatment room; there’s an incredible feeling I get from a fully booked day and knowing I’ve helped my clients feel and look their absolute best!

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering support and inspiration of my daughter. She’s been my constant source of courage, pushing me to pursue opportunities I never imagined possible on my own. Of course, there have been challenges. Navigating the world of social media has been a significant hurdle, as it’s never been my natural habitat. Putting myself and my business out there as an introvert has been a journey of stepping outside my comfort zone, and I’m genuinely grateful for that growth. In fact, the desire for professional growth was a key motivator in branching out on my own. I truly value every challenge I’ve faced and the continuous learning it brings.

Along the way, I’ve learned the profound importance of patience. Establishing and nurturing a business takes time and consistent effort. I’m also in the ongoing process of learning to establish boundaries, particularly respecting my personal time and not booking clients on my days off. That has proven to be one of the most challenging, yet crucial, lessons for me. Work life balance is very important.

Ultimately, I want every client who entrusts me with their care to feel and know that I take my work with the utmost seriousness. My greatest desire is for them to leave feeling happy, confident, and genuinely excited to share their positive experience with their friends and family. I want my treatment room to be recognized as a safe and welcoming space where they will always feel comfortable and valued.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start our day with coffee from some of my favorite local spots, Moka, Dapper Brews or Endiro.
Drinks at the turf room, they have the best martinis!
Lunch or dinner at Giordino Trattoria & Pizzeria, everything there is so delish!
Cabra- drinks and food here is 10/10
Little shopping? Oak Brook Mall
We would Make the time to go downtown Chicago and explore! Hang around the lake or explore Chicago’s neighborhoods. Check out the Art institute, Planetarium at night, since the skyline there is breath taking!
Hit some trails at starved rock to get some sun and recharge in nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most and foremost, this journey wouldn’t have been possible without my daughter. She is my constant source of courage and strength, and truly the driving force behind my decision to take the leap and start my own business. Everything I’m building is for her future. I’m also incredibly grateful for my partner, whose constant encouragement and positivity have been so vital in navigating the inevitable challenges. Beyond them, my family’s unwavering support and practical help have been instrumental in keeping me on track. I also want to give a special shoutout to my previous boss, who has become a wonderful friend and mentor, offering invaluable guidance along the way. And finally, to my small but mighty circle of girlfriends – your constant inspiration, guidance, and willingness to share your wisdom as fellow successful women have been invaluable. And a huge thank you to all my other incredible friends who consistently cheer me on and support me in every way – your belief in me means the world! And last but certainly not least, a massive thank you to my incredible clients. Your loyalty, continued support over the years, and your wonderful referrals have been the bedrock of my business.
