We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Devilers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diane, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The first thing to come to my mind is the inconsistency, when you’re working on a project it feels amazing, time flies by etc. But when it’s over and you don’t have a new project lined up then it’s the uncertainty of where you’re going. It’s a lot of ups and downs. You really have to love making movies to be able to stay in the industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m most proud of is my empathy. I’ve been acting in theater since I was six years old, studying and living through other characters has made me able to put myself into other people’s shoes and understand them better. Acting has always been my biggest source of happiness until I went to film school and discovered the Steadicam. From the first time I put it on I fell in love with it.
I’ve now been a Steadicam operator on 9 different projects and am saving to buy my own gear.
Nothing worthwhile is ever easy, especially in the film industry. I keep learning new things everyday and work on my craft as much as possible.
I’d love for the world to know about my excellent diverse skills set in Film.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would bring them to the beach, either Venice or Manhattan beach, Mulholland scenic overlook, drive through Beverly Hills, Griffith Park, hikes in Malibu, watch a movie at the New Beverly. For food, definitely Leo’s Taco truck, the French bakery “Sweet Lily’s”, the Red lion tavern, In n Out and chick fil a.
And then I’d have them meet and party with my friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my parents. Even though they have no knowledge or interest in the film industry they have always supported my aspirations. Without them I would never have been able to be where I am and do what I do. I’m extremely fortunate to have them, knowing that no matter what happens they will always be there for me.
