We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diane, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote/affirmation is “Fortune favors the Bold”. I believe that in any endeavor you pursue, the first step is to be courageous. I like this quote because through being bold and outspoken for the things you believe in, fortune will eventually come. That fortune does not necessarily mean only in terms of monetary gain, but rather the riches in which your pursuit made you feel and the benefit of what it does for your soul.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I founded my production company WallyBird Productions with the intention of self empowerment. I had been a freelance producer for a long time and wanted a company of my own to make the world a better place through film. I now have 7-8 projects going on at once and a team of people helping to assist in that dream. When I first started, it was not easy, because I was building something by myself from nothing other than my own tenacity and grit. After a few years, and a lot of hard work, the projects I had the opportunities to release, have started to garner awards and accolades and we are now starting to get noticed. The relationships I have built over this time have also grown exponentially and I have cultivated and cared for them deeply, because any film or creative project is not a one person show. It truly takes a village of passionate people to make anything valuable. I want people worldwide to know WallyBird Productions is an entertainment company that stands for diversity and equality and that we aim to create projects that can truly make a difference.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great places in LA! I would take them to LACMA, the Getty, Walt Disney Concert Hall, hiking in Griffith Park to see the Hollywood Sign and the Observatory, grab lunch at The Beverly Hills Hotel and then head over to Roberston for some shopping, also check out the vintage stores on Melrose then grab cocktails at the Cara Hotel and take a nice long drive up the PCH and watch the sunset in Malibu. A great week in the great city of Angels! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family first and foremost because they have always supported me from day one. They believe in me and are always there. I am so grateful for their love and support. In terms of others, I have found inspiration and guidance through an incredible book, The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. It has transformed my way of thinking and in turn has helped my journey to self empowerment. My dear friend JUNO, is the one who suggested I read it and I am so thankful for that recommendation. I also want to shoutout the creatives I work with at WallyBird Productions. I am so lucky to work with such talented filmmakers, musicians, and artists. Each one of them has had a positive impact on my life.
