We had the good fortune of connecting with Dipali Patel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dipali, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.” – Oprah Winfrey
Self confidence is not letting the opinions and thoughts of others affect how we feel about ourselves when really our own opinion is the one that matters the most. It’s being confident about yourself, your worth, and what you are doing. Self Confidence is knowing that you are much more than the negativity eluded from others and to just be yourself and own it! Sometimes we have to fall before we can learn to walk and similarly, we have to fail at times to grow. It’s about learning what went through in our pasts and using to shape our future. It’s about stepping out of stereotypes/cultural norms and break barriers to help shape a newer perception of strong women today.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Coder School is a year-round, after-school enrichment program that teaches young students (ages 7-18) how to write computer software. We are part of a nationwide franchise with more than 46 locations – locally we collaborate with our sister schools in Irvine, Yorba Linda, and Mission Viejo coming soon. Unlike other schools, the Coder School maintains a very low ratio of only two students with one instructor. This allows us to customize a unique curriculum for each student, based on their experience, how they learn, and what they are interested in learning. The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. When I was doing tech recruiting and placing software developers into startups all across the nation, one synonymous comment they all had was that they wished there was a school around when they were younger. Coincidentally, when my own son expressed interest, and I was shocked to find that none existed around here. Being a local resident of this community, I knew I had to bring it here. Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it’s important for kids to understand the technology around them. Coding is the language of the future, and it fosters creativity, problem solving, and logical thinking skills that transcends into any occupation.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am fortunate to live in a melting pot of amazing cultures and backgrounds. For guests visiting me, our typical kids destinations would be Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland. Tourist attractions would be visiting Long Beach and San Diego areas. For all my Indians, I would def take a stroll down Little India in Artesia. Eating, drinking, and hanging out spots in So Cal are limitless esp with all the beaches but some of my fav are Newport, Santa Monica, and Venice.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am blessed to have a tribe of wonderful people around me who support and encourage my growth. My family who have been my stability, my kids who have been my inspiration, and my close friends who have been my motivation. I am also apart of an incredible franchise (theCoderSchool USA) who welcome my thoughts/opinions and treat me with respect and not just a number.
