We had the good fortune of connecting with DirtyBlakRat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DirtyBlakRat, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Discipline is the most important habit that is attributable to my success. My regiment includes keeping my mind and body at its ultimate performance. I am scheduled in my routine, which includes time to be creative. This is important to allow for the time, to just let your mind float in order to come up with the material.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My ability to do it all. Writing music, production, create and film my own videos, and the ability to act in my own videos. I’m very excited about my upcoming album “Alien on Mulholland” which will be released later this year. Sounds from the beaches to the city with beats and lyrics that is not from the world. I’m very excited for my fans to hear this,. I got here by making my own content. This business is challenging to get work, realizing this, I stated to create my own content as a way of owning my own destiny and ensure that I never lost the craft. I’ve learned many lessons along the way. Never giving up, always try to re invent yourself, find what you love and find a way to just do it. My music will make you feel something, take your mind to another place with storytelling and beats that make you move.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My day would start with a drive down Mulholland highway, through the canyons in the valley. Then we would go down to the beach, through Pacific Coast Highway, stopping for something to eat along our way. Next stop will be Hollywood to walk along the ave of the stars. The day would end looking at the endless lights in the Hollywood hills.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Hip hop in general gets credit in my story, all those that came before me helped to shape how I create. I’ve been listening to Hip hop for years and I always thought I can make my own music. The intricate story telling, the descriptive way of using words always intrigued me. The freestyles that is unique to each individual. There are so many artist that helped to inspire me with their work.
